Revelation

Hello Musicmaster;

You ask a good question.

The seven seals reveals the scrolls, trumpets, vial, harp and more as you mentioned indicating the importance of the seal's contents. This represents all of what God is going to do with His wonderful plan for the end of the world.

The seven seals is written to include a warning and question to
all believers including the seven churches arriving at God's Government.
Are we worshiping and will we stand firm until the end?

MM, I don't know about the seventh seal being the seventh church? Also, I don't know Shepherd's Chapel.

God bless
you, brother.

The 7th SEAL will be the 7 Trumpet Judgments and IMHO has nothing to do with the church.

I love you brother, but IMHO, nothing in the Revelation has taken place yet! The removal of the church is THE next prophetic event to take place and then all the stuff in the Rev. takes place.

But......That is just me!
The 7 churches being addressed were actual ones of that time!

I love you brother, but IMHO, nothing in the Revelation has taken place yet! The removal of the church is THE next prophetic event to take place and then all the stuff in the Rev. takes place.

But......That is just me!
Everything up to chapter 4 were in the first century setting!

REVELATION 5:2-4.............
"And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.
4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon."

We are now just past the "Removal of the Church" and John is still having a vision of the Throne Room of God.
He has witnessed the worship taking place. He has seen a "Book" in the hand of the Trinity.

Now a STRONG angel comes forward to ask......."WHO is morally fit to open this book"????? WHO is worthy????

Who then is this angel must be the next question?

We know that it is not the Lord Jesus and we will see that in verse #5.

My opinion is this angel must be Michael the Arch angel or Gabrial.

The prophet Daniel is told that Michael the archangel is “the great prince who protects your people” (Daniel 12:1). Daniel’s people are the Jews, and the fact that Michael “protects” them suggests that God has set various holy angels over various countries or people groups. Seeing that the Tribulation Peroid is just about to begin and it is all about bring the Jews to Christ, It is my opinion that this strong angel is Michael.

Also consider that Michael is described in all three books as contending, fighting, or standing against evil spirits and principalities (Daniel 10:13; 21; Jude 9; Revelation 12:7).

Notice that despite his great power, Michael is still in total submission to the Lord Jesus!. His dependence on the Lord’s power is seen in Jude 1:9. The righteous angels have a rank and are submissive to authority, and for this reason they are used as a picture of a wife’s submission to her husband (1 Corth. 11:10). Taking into consideration the strength of Michael the archangel, his submission to God is all the more beautiful. If the submission of angels is an argument for woman’s submission, we can see that submission is never meant to take away a woman’s strength or purpose or value.

Verse #3.
All of heaven is searched. The Earth is searched and NO ONE is found! Now consider what that means......NO MAN was found ANYWHERE!

Nor Moses, Adam, Noah, Enoch, Abraham, Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, David, John, Peter, Matthew, Paul...NO ONE!

WHY??????????

The answer is found in Romans 3:23......"ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD"!

Verse #4.
This led John to cry/wept MUCH!

Again the question has to be WHY????

1. It could be that he yearned to see creation set free from the bondage of sin!
2. It could also be that he wanted the promise of 4:1 to be fulfilled.

REVELATION 5:5...........
"And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof."

John's weeping ends at the place where all tears are dried....at Christ Jesus.

Jesus is worthy because He is the owner of all things. He is the Creator of the Universe and Earth and as such only He has the credibility to judge.

"ROOT" of David points to His deity.
"Lion of Judah" points to His royalty.

The words "Lion of Judah" appears only here in the Bible.

The LION was the ancient symbol for the tribe of Judah and in the 6 Day War of 1967, the Old City of Jerusalem was taken by the army of Israel whne they attacked at the "Lion's Gate". Originally this attack was to be made at the "Dung Gate" but the cry from the soldiers was...."JUDAH FIRST" and hence the Judah Lion Gate became the objective.

Judah was the Lion because of Jacobs prophecy in Genesis 49:9-10.....
" From the prey, my son, thou art gone up: He stooped down, he couched as a lion, And as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh come; And unto him shall the gathering of the people be."

Again.....the Time line here is immediately after the Rapture and right before the 7 Year Tribulation begins.

REVELATION 5:6........
"And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth."

From LION to LAMB!

As John is gazing at the throne having just heard of the LION of Judah, he suddenly realizes that the slain Lamb is now alive and is standing in front of him. The LION and the LAMB are one in the same.

WHY?????????

Because at His 1st Advent Christ came as a sacrificial LAMB of God, to die a sacrificial death so all that will believe in Him will be saved from the coming judgment.

At His 2nd Coming......that judgment has come. He is no longer seen as a Lamb but as a LION who will judge and make war against the ungodly.

Jesus is referred to as a Lamb in the New Test. 29 times.

Again we see the # 7. Horns, Eyes, and Spirits.
John sees Christ as diety with 7 horns = complete omnipotent!
He also sees 7 Eyes........................................= complete knowledge!
SEVEN represents "completion/Perfection" and therefore there will be no mistakes in the judgment to come.

It is important to realize that Jesus is no longer the "Intercessor for the Church". The church at this point is in heaven with Him and now He is about to begin His work as the JUDGE.

If you are reading this and you are a born again believer, remember that this is why you accepted Christ those many years ago.
"SAVED" literally means = means “deliverance.” To be saved means to be delivered. When you accepted Christ, YOUR sins were paid for by Christ and you were delivered from the coming judgment.

REVELATION 5:7
"And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne."

Jesus moves to the Throne.

This verse is the answer to the question asked by the angel in 5:2....."Who is worthy"?

Only the Lord Jesus Christ!

Again.....Christ is leaving the 1st aspect of His mission which was "Intercession" and is moving to the 2nd aspect of His purpose and that is one of Judge.

REVELATION 5:8..........
"And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints."

So far, we can see that if we take the Scriptures as "Literal", we can understand that John describes what happened after the Lamb had taken the scroll from the right hand of God (Revelation 5:6–7) and there are no surprises or symbolic problems to be discussed.

The four living creatures and the elders prostrated themselves before the Lamb. Each elder held a harp and golden bowls full of incense.

I think that here we can see the answer to those who refuse to use musical instruments in Church services. Harps were played at feasts and celebrations in the ancient world, and their music delighted all who attended those events. Music will fill the courts of heaven, too, as attendees worship the Lamb. There is nothing drab about heaven!

The elders also held a golden bowl full of incense. It should be understood now that the prayers of the saints are not lost or forgotten. They are preserved until God answers them.

Prayers are always answered in one of 3 ways..........
!. YES.
2. NO.
3. LATER.

REVELATION 5:9..........
"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation".

"And they" = The Elders and Living Creatures".

The Lamb is Jesus and He is the only one worthy. Paradise was lost in Genesis 3 and there are NO songs in the rest of Genesis.

Exodus is the Earth's 1st song. That is because Israel was delivered from bondage. The "OLD SONG' was in Job 38:7...........
"When the morning starres sang together, and all the sonnes of God shouted for ioy."

This NEW song in Revelation is all about Redemption. It is sung in heaven at the beginning of the Tribulation Peroid.
Because John said it was a NEW song, that means he had never heard it before.

"Thy Blood" = Redemption! The shed blood of Christ is the price of our redemption and the symbol of its completion.!!!!

In our day of fancy church buildings, TV's, computers, cars and airplanes we seem to have forgotten that it is and always has been about THE BLOOD!

Hebrews 9:22.......
""Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins."

Blood is the solution to sin because life is the answer to death. The sacrificial blood would give new life—it would atone, or “make man at one with God.”

The Old Testament animals’ blood sacrifices could not take away sins and they were only temporary (Hebrews 10:2-12). All of the blood shed from animals LOOKED FORWARD TO THAT OF CHRIST!
Although the cross was still future, God would credit believers with the finished crosswork of Christ, which did take away sins. When the Old Testament animal sacrifices were offered, God would apply the merits of Calvary’s cross to that particular saint. Once Christ died, the animal sacrifices were unnecessary.

Hebrews 10:10-14 reminds Israel: ........
“[10] By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. [11] And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: [12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; [13] From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. [14] For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”

Recall that when Adam and Eve sinned all thouse thousands of years ago, it was the Lord Jesus Christ who killed animals and shed their blood to "cover" their sin!

That same Jesus Christ then 4000 years later, shed His blood for Adam and Eve to remove their sin AND YOURS!

HOW?????? By FAITH!

Adam and Eve and all the Olt Test. saints were saved by faith looking forward which is a religious word for CREDIT!

Since the gospel we all are saved by faith looking backwards and that means we also are saved by CREDIT = FAITH.

In other words, when you buy a car and the bank finances it, they BY FAITH = CREDIT that you will pay the bill you owe.

In Christianity, Jesus paid your bill that YOU owe if you will by FAITH accept his work as your payment.

REVELATION 5:10..........
"And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth."

Here we see confirmation of what John said in Revelation 1:6: that verse teaches that Jesus has made all the redeemed a kingdom and priests.

This Scripture has nothing to do with the Jehovah Witnesses teaching. This is about those who come to Christ as believers and JW'S to not accept Jesus as the Christ or as deity. They are, simply said, the religious lost!

Verse #10 is the result of verse #9........the redeemed in Christ have been taken from his state of complete separation from God and has been elevated to a position of true dominion!
This Scripture looks ahead to the 1000 year Rule of Christ on Earth.

Kings have a responsibility. That responsibility is to provide leadership for others.

The Lord promises conquerors—those who "hold fast" through faith (Hebrews 4:14).

When we do that, we will share His throne (Revelation 3:21).

This will happen after the tribulation, when Jesus returns to earth and establishes His kingdom (Revelation 20:4–6).

During Jesus' reign on earth, corrupt governments and evil dictators will not be allowed to continue. King Jesus will use the redeemed to guard His righteous rule over the nations. The redeemed are also priests. As such, they have a responsibility to direct people to God, to teach the Word of God, to counsel, and to pray for others.

Jesus did not create an exclusive order of priests, such as the Levites. Pastors and preachers and Music directors are the same positionally as everyone else!

Instead, He made all believers priests unto God. The apostle Peter wrote in 1 Peter 2:9........
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light".

REVELATION 5:11
"And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands".

As the Lamb takes the book, the host of heaven break out in a voice of joy. Celebration would be a better word.

At last, the time has come. What God has promised is about to take place. Rebellious lost sinners are about to be judged and their dominion to be taken away from them.

"Ten thousand times ten thousand "
— "Myriads of myriads and chiliads of chiliads;" that is, an infinite or innumerable multitude. This is in reference to Daniel 7:10...........

"A river of fire was flowing And coming out from before Him; Thousands upon thousands were attending Him, And myriads upon myriads were standing before Him; The court sat, And the books were opened."

Needless to say, the numbers are not to be taken literally; they are simply used by John to express the countless throng of that innumerable company.

REVELATION 5:12..........
"Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing."

"loud Voice" = Noisey place!

Revelation 5:13................
" And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

We now we all of creation of the universe praising God!

Does this teach us that all the FISH and ALL the BIRDS and ALL the humans join in?????

Maybe the best answer is that it would be cautious lest we force the Bible to say something that it does not say because we do not understand how it could be.

Then we need to be just as careful to allow its words to say what they actually do say lest we make the words mean nothing.

If we read the Scriptures in the literal fashion then we see that John does in fact see a manifestation OF ALL the Creation and ALL CREATURES.

So then if that is the case, will those already in hell praise God and acknowledge Him as Lord?

The short answer is YES!......However, that will NOT change their eternal location. Physical death sealed their fate!!!!!!

Philippians 2:10.........
"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth".

Isaiah 45:23.......
"I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear."

Universalists use this passage to demonstrate that “every knee to bow” (Phil. 2:10). Does this mean that all people will come to Christ in the end?

The longer answer is while demons believe that God exists, they don’t believe in God (Jas. 2:19). In the same way, everyone will bow to Christ, but NO ONE not saved while alive will trust in him for salvation. Other passages make it clear that not everyone will be saved (Rev. 20:11-15; Mt. 25:31-46; 2 Thess. 1:9; Mt. 26:24; Rev. 20:15). In fact, Paul’s citation of Isaiah 45:23-24 only confirms this interpretation, because the context of Isaiah 45 goes on to speak of God’s opponents, who “will be put to shame”.

REVELATION 6:1
"And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see."

We now come to the SEAL Judgments.

In the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ there are 3 sets of 7 judgments.

The 1st set is the SEAL judgments and the 7th SEAL is the set of 7 TRUMPET judgments. Then the 7th TRUMPET judgment is the set of 7 BOWL judgments.

SEAL Judgments are in Revelation 6 with the 7th one in Reveltion 8.
TRUMPET judgments are in Revelation 8 & 9 with the 7th in Revelation 16.

So what you have is......
1st seal...............Antichrist
2nd Seal.............War
3rd Seal..............Famine
4th Seal............. Death
5th Seal..............Martydom
6th Seal .............Varied disturbances
7th Seal..............= Set of 7 Trumpet Judgments
1st Trumpet.............1/3 of Earth Smitten
2nd Trumpet............1/3 of Sea affected
3rd Trumpet.............1/3 of Rivers affected
4th Trumpet..............1/3 of Sun, Moon and Stars affected
5th Trumpet...............Locusts torment men for 5 months
6th Trumpet...............200 Million man army cross the Euphrates River
7th Trumpet...............=Set of 7 BOWL Judgments
1st Bowl................Sores on the Beast followers
2nd Bowl................ALL of the Sea affected
3rd Bowl.................ALL Rivers affected
4th Bowl.................Sun scorches men
5th Bowl.................Darkness
6th Bowl.................Armies enter into Israel
7th Bowl.................Great Earthquake, Hail, Armageddon
This is the 7 Year Tribulation that Daniel told us would take place and it all begins with a SEVEN YEAR (7) Peace treaty between the A/C and Israel.

As "ONE" who does not believe that the CHURCH will go through these judgments, it seems to me that the Peace Treaty could be signed at any moment in time.

In verse #1....."THUNDER" indicate impending judgments! The sound of the FOUR Horsemen are heard!

Also in verse #1........"Come and see" is translated as------GO!

REVELATION 6:2.......
' And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer."

Some say that the rider on the white horse is Jesus Christ.

However, the only thing in common here with Rev. 19:11 is the COLOR of the horse. This IS NOT Jesus!

This is the Anti-Christ!

Comare Rev. 6:2 with......................................... Rev. 19:11
Has A crown ..........................................................Has MANY crowns
War, Famine, death follow.................................The Host of heaven follow
This rider is NOT called faith and true..........This rider IS called faithful and true.
This rider is NOT called the Word of God....This rider IS called the Word of God
This rider has NO imprints.................................This rider has imprinted "King of Kings on Him
This rider does NOT have Lord of Lords.......This rider has "Lord of Lords" on Him
This rider has a bow but no arrows,,,,.............This rider has a sharp sword
Chaos follows this rider........................................This rider ushers in the Millennium kingdom.

Another thing, this can not be the Christ as Christ was seen in the midst of the throne room of God as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

So then....what would the most evil, deceptive character in the Bible be seen on a WHITE horse. Why not a BLACK horse???????

The answer is that Satan and his demons never show their true colors.
Also, Satna is the "Imitator" of God!

He reads the Bible. He knows that Jesus comes riding a WHITE horse so therefore he deceives.

IMHO, the WHITE horse and a bow with NO arrows indicates that the A/C in his early years will rule in peace and be well liked.
At some time he will instigate a Peace Agreement with Israel. That means that there must then be a WAR in progress.

I suggest that the Russian Invasion of Israel along with certain Muslim nation will be the catalyst.
This seems to me to be what Ezekiel 38-39 is saying.

The time frame has now moved to the start of the 3 and 1/2 year mark of the 7 Year Tribulation.

Revelation 6:3..........
" And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword."

Now comes a Firey RED horse. = WAR!

Red of course is the color of blood.

This matches the prophecies of Jesus perfectly in Matthew 24:5...........
"For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." = Rider on the white horse in verse #1.

Matthew 24:6.........
"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet."

Yes.....wars have existed since Cain killed Abel. But Israel was NOT IN THE LAND until 1948.

1. Now, WHY are the 1st 7 judgments SEALS?
Because the Seals portray to us the fact that God's future judgments were ordained in advance and securely held back until God's
time came for Him to release them.

2. Then WHY are the 1st 4 on running horses of different colors??????
Horses display rapid movement covering a lot of ground. This means that when the judgments come, they will be in rapid
succession.

A "great sword" indicates that a lot of people will die. Slaughter on a gigantic scale! Again, the earth has seen thousands of wars but when this RED horse is let loose, the blood shed will be intense and more wide spread than ever before.

1. The Bible indicates that Russia will make war against Israel in Ezek. 38-39.
2. The Muslim nations of the world will make war against Israel in Zech. 14. & Ezek. 38.
3. 200 million Chinese will come into Israel.

Red is also the color of socialism and communism, the Russians are referred to as the red army and China is called Red China. The anti-christ will establish a world government and if he is going to have the total control of it, it must be one of these systems.

As an aside to this discussion:

I want to thank Major for this tutorial.

I have tried to tackle Revelation in detail several times over the years and I still have the same problems (with my understanding, or lack there-of).

I can follow most explanations as I read/hear them, but I find that when I put whatever materials I am using and look at the text by itself, I know that my knowledge remains very superficial and my understanding is less.

Revelation is full of symbolic imagery. The use of symbolic imagery is quite different from figurative language. Symbols often bring a wide range of contextual meaning while figurative usage often highlights a single aspect. A figure of speech is often quickly learned while a symbol requires contextual understanding. I generally have less problems with figurative use than symbolic use.

I can follow most explanations as I read/hear them, but I find that when I put whatever materials I am using and look at the text itself, I know that my knowledge remains very superficial.

I think much of my problem is that although I have read the OT sources as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, etc. their message does not spring to my mind as does the NT Gospels and letters.

Much of the imagery and context in Revelation comes from these sources and were commonly known when John received this prophecy. My lack of internalizing the OT prophets makes the symbolic imagery difficult.

So when I come across such references in commentaries or other expounders on Revelation, I take note and later go back to those scriptures and look at them in context to see whether the original context adds to the understanding. Sometimes this helps, sometimes less so.

Well, you do have a point and having been a history major for a long time I can tell you that the color red was associated with left-wing movements in Europe long before the Russian Revolution and Chinese. The flags associated with the European revolts in 1848 as well as the flag of the Italian nationalist Garibaldi were red – indeed his troops were called camicie rosse (redshirts). The flag of the Paris Commune of 1871 was also red.

However, the red so prominent in the Russian and Chinese flags today are believed to relate to the blood of the workers – that is, to honor the suffering and sacrifices of the proletariat.

Thank you brother for the compliment. I am just a simple old country boy from N.A. and I have always tried to teach the Bible in a down to earth, simple mans understanding as that who I are!

REVELATION 6:5-.........
"And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand."

Why BLACK? Black represents "famine, and starvation". Famine and starvation always follow WAR because of the unsetteled conditions.
(Lam. 4:8-9......5:10.)

War does not allow farming and if any is done it is stolen by troops going through the land.

We have seen clearly now with the effects of the Covid virus that food shortages can happen anywhere at anytime to everyone.

The Balance of Scales indicates a scarcity of food.

During WAR, famine inflates the price of everything sold. During WW2, inflation was so high and so fast in Germany that when someone picked up a loaf of bread for $1.00, before they could get to the register to pay it would have gone up to $2.00.

TODAY......Gas that is $4.25 a gallon goes up to $4.50 a gallon by the flip of a switch and we are not at war. I say that so as to allow you to consider what it will be like for those left behind after the Rapture.

In 1975, 10,000 people starved to death. In Biafra, at one point, 100,000 a month were dieing of starvation.

During that time, currency will be worthless and precious metals as well.

Lots of people have bought into the idea of buying silver and gold as a hedge against currency losss! WHY??????
Gold and Silver are only valuable to those who LOVE them. Most do not care.

What I am saying is that when you take a $1.00 Gold coin into a store to buy a loaf of bread and YOU paid someone $100.00 for that shinney Gold coin because it was pretty and someone told you it was worth $100.00........you will only get 1 loaf of bread for $1.00 for that gold coin!!!!

Personally, I think hording money is silly! You die and your kids get all your money!!!!
