Just a little poem wot I wrote

Now then, how’s it hangin?
There’s a only man in our church
Who, when he sidles up to you,
Your hand start to get sticky
And sweat pours from your brow,
You know what’s coming
You know what he’s gonna ask,
How’s your love life with Jesus?
The questions always the same!
Problem is
He always seem to know the answer,
You can’t dodge around...
Most other questions
How you doing?
How’s your wife?
Questions about your health?
Had a good week?
Answers can be vague, woolly
But when it comes to your love life with Jesus
Can’t dodge around that!

He’s crossing the room,
It goes silent
Who’s the next target?
Who has God told him
To have a little chat with next?
Silent prayers urgently uttered
Have I got time to get right with God?
Before he reaches me for a little word.
Heads bowed to avoid eye contact
An audible sigh goes round the room
When it’s not you...
So,
How’s it hanging?
How’s your love life with Jesus?
I don’t know the answer
But Father already does!

A good conscience is a true blessing. Having a good diet of spiritual food and drink is so important in our spiritual walk and a great aid in avoiding temptation.

Your poem reveals to me the battle we have when priorities are not straight in our life and we don't yet hunger and thirst after righteousness. The source of righteousness can only be found in God's word and from drinking the living waters of God's Holy Spirit.

Two photos, what do you see?

The first a watery moon at sunrise the other day

The second sunset tonight

To me the sunset is reminding me that The Son has been with us all day, it’s been a good day but the Son has to go!

But not abandoning you, It will be back!

Until then the moon will look over you

Reflecting the light from the sun

Sometimes clouds will block out the sun but It’s still there

Hard to believe sometimes, Trust me it’s true...

And the moon, it’s still hanging around til the sun rises, watery, tired but still faithfully watching over us all til the Son rises and it’s job is done...

Is God trying to show me something?

is it a modern day parable?

Or have I just lost my self in the beauty of the Welsh Countryside viewed from my house?

Have I drifted off to sleep again?

Am I just day dreaming and my mind is working overtime?

You decide...

I think in our struggle to see Him we find Him. I think that message
is to you and for you and what you see is what He is telling you.
You are a good man, Alan. There is nothing wrong with you and
the truth of God's love is not in the mystery but in His comfort of
assurance that He is God. I pray you are blessed by my words and
your meeting with God today.

Just clearing my head of junk🤪🤪🤪

So

We automatically put our seat belt on
as soon as we get in a car,
So why is it so difficult to remember
To put on the full armour of God?
We keep to the speed limit on the roads,
Don’t drive over double white lines,
So why do we challenge
Question, the God’s laws?
And question
Are they are relevant for
A twenty first century world?...

We look at the map
Or nowadays set the sat nav,
Before the journey starts,
So we know we’re on the right road,
And the journeys planned...
So why do we question what,
God has for our lives,
When He reveals His plans?

Mother always told us to wearing clean vest
When you were leaving home,
Just in case...
But we find it hard to be prepared
By reading the word of God?

If we’d got an invitation for an audience
With the queen ...
We’d be straight down the high street to buy a new hat!
So why do we hesitate,
question
‘Is it real?’
When the king of kings
Invites us
To spend eternity with Him?

These are some of the questions
Spinning round my head,
Why does the Lord of all creation
spend time with me?
Been up all night worrying
Heard the dawn chorus,
And remembered something Jesus said
In Matthew six verses 31 and 33
Decide to put my faith to work
Believe what Jesus said...
But for now
Got to stop thinking
It’s hurting my head🤪

Wife got angry when the kitten was caught unraveling her knitting
The cat saw a play toy
Wife saw a ruined jumper
I saw...

When
When it feels like your worlds unraveling...
And you are feeling what’s the point?
Just a little reminder,
God woke you up today for a reason
He’s given you another day
He’s given you another chance...
What are you going to do with it?
Just saying...

Thanks I would ofer. .

We are to put on and keep on the armor of God. . a one-time event. No armor for the rear. Not like a seat belt but leave it on . . sleep with it. Like David said in the Psalms; when I awake you are still there.

A poem I offered before . . .what are we doing with the new day

In the dawning of your love... this day breaks forth anew. The fast is surely broken, I awaken , hunger turns towards you.

Now looking for your precious love, it awakens me finds me waiting here.... . Filling my cup to overflowing this is your love for sure, that leads us to where we are going.

Your love has so awakened me, as it has desired so, this cannot be mistaken where yourlove leads me, I will surely go.

Looking in hopeful anticipation the gate swings open to this day anew, and in humbleadoration we follow, as your lamp unto our feet............ leads us through.

Step by step we follow your path as the light of your word guides our hearts from above, marveling at the fact for our trespass you did pay, But why?

Walking with joy towards your mansion, we pause to drink from your living water of delight. This raises our hope like putting on armor; we are strengthened by the authority of your might.

Times along this journey are sometimes rough we know, a stone of a false gospel may cause us to stumble, and that dark valley, so, so far......... below.

We sometimes feel overshadowed, falling far behind. In this dark and dreary valley, how much longer.... echoes in our mind?

Suddenly lifted high in visions of rapture upon the solid Rock of Christ, we stand. We look in anticipation for you to speak a word.... but we find we can onlysigh. We ask that we might see your face, we ask... please do not deny.

Suddenly we find ourselves in a cleft of a Rock, as the place we firmly stand. Could thisbe the answer of seeking your face.. your gracious and loving reply?

The cloud of your presence now veils the light as your glory passes by, blinded by thiswonderful grace. Suddenly your veil now is lifted high.

Sounds of battle we faintly hear, as we look our vision still blurry and marred. You arethe victor of our faith, our Holy shield, and our rear guard.

Us stragglers and strays you left not behind, but in love said follow me.. By thislove you made the victory sure, by your blood you set us free.

Such unfailing love that rescues those you bought, such love that knows no end. We thank you Jesus for being our Savior, and also for being our loving
friend.

Being isolated for a year this week I think I’m suffering from cabin fever...
Thank God for family who are brave enough to venture out!

I was in a zoom prayer meeting the other night

Something someone said, and I-can’t even remember what it was now, sent my mind into another world and I wrote the following

Square pegs into round holes

God doesn’t put square pegs into round holes
He has a perfectly shaped place for you!
He built you perfectly in His eyes,
Feet, eyes all in the right place...
Two noses would be confusing
Which ones to hang your glasses on?
He knows what size your feet are
You won’t rattle around in odd size shoes!
Or Need a belt to keep your kecks up...
He doesn’t follow fashion...
But with Jesus
You’ll always be dressed right
He has welly boots and waterproofs
For the floods of life,
Climbing boots and crampons
To reach the mountains tops...
Armour of faith to protect you
When the enemy has a go...
Royal robes of righteousness
Ready for the bridal feast

God doesn’t build with bananas
He carves each stone Himself,
He shapes them,
Places them
where He ordained
To see the kingdom grow
I’m in danger of mixing my metaphors
Writing parables is not easy nowadays...
But I know what I’m trying to say...
Good job Jesus knows me,
And knows what’s written in my heart,
The problem I’ve got
is
Getting it down on the page!

A friend who’s an Anglican minister always bemoaned the fact that it always started to rain on Sunday just as it was time to get ready for church remembering Chris I wrote this

I can do all things...
I can do all things
In Christ Jesus
Except go to church when it rains...
Heal the sick raise the dead
No problems...
But can’t get my Sunday best wet...
Tithe my money, no problem,
But I think I’ll do private study
Instead of getting my new shoes soaked...
The thought of wallowing in wet socks
Squelching through the set psalms prayers
Puts a damp squib on corporate worship
Dare I give it a miss this week?
Sat in my study in front of that log fire
It’s so cold and drab outside
Do you think they’ll miss me
Just once
If I hibernate this week?
All the hymns are ready and the prayers are set...
The offertory is paid by standing order
So the church won’t miss out,
The notices are pinned on the vestibule wall
So everyone knows what’s on next week...
The sermon can be played on the over head projector...
From You Tube
And after church coffee sorted
Since we installed vending machines...
So with all the angles covered
I’ll put another log on the fire
And break the marshmallows out!
It’s Sunday and again start to rain
At four pm on the dot,
The congregation Will be their twitching curtains
Thinking they’ll not miss me this week...
If Noah didn’t mind the weather
And got all safely gathered in...

So,
Here goes,
Waterproof on and in my wellies
Stood at the front of the church
Dreaming of a steaming cup of cocoa
my comfy slippers,
and a good film on TV
Better get things started
And announce the first hymn!

Hello brother Alan;

I enjoyed your poem! I don't understand why Minister Chris would bemoan the rain on Sunday. But then again, I do understand. Chris is still a man and like myself, can grumble when the heater is not on inside His building. (Put on your bloody sweater and coat, Bob!)

"So, here goes," gives us all an uplift to think about.

God bless you, Alan, and thank you.

rev Chris believed that rain could affect attendance to his services by nearly a quarter and living in rural village in Yorkshire at the time that was a large space of empty pews! A lovely man of faith !

I was sat in my shed (man cave) having a right good pity party,
after a while It was as if God said to me “have you done yet?”

I was concentrating on all the things I couldn’t do and forgot all the things I could!
Then this poem I wrote came to mind...
It blessed me to tears...
It reminded me one thing I can do is...
well read the poem:-
(You might need to search google or You Tube to name check some of people mentioned?)
P.s. I am responsible for writing it🤓

A 70’s Mans Prayer?

I wish I could sing a new song
And sing it in tune,
Dance like they did
In Saturday Night Fever, Fame
Or even Grease,
Go on Top of the Pops
With Pams People,
Rock all overvthe world with Status Quo
Play the guitar like Eric Clapton,
Play keyboards like... you know that one out of Cream...
Look as young as Cliff Richard does
What ever decade it is...
Wear the latest cool gear,
A Gucci watch,
An Armani suit...
Dolce and Gabbana Sunglasses
To complete the look...
Be as daring as Evil Kenevil
As strong as Mr Universe
As romantic as the man
out of the Milktray advert
But just look at me!
Can’t do that...
I’m just me!

I can’t sing in tune to save me self...
Dance? I’ve two left feet!
And when they sing ‘slide to the left, jump up and down’
I finish up breathless,
Facing the wrong way round,
on the floor, in a heap!
I play the piano like Eric Morecambe
All the right notes but not in the right place.
It sounds like the cat got strangled
when I pick up a guitar and groove...
Looks like I’ve been pulled through a hedge backward
When I try to dress like Daniel Craig...
When they say ‘shout out to the Lord! ‘
I’ve gone and forgotten the chant ,
Strong and brave? you must be joking
Like Gideon I’m thrashing corn in a wine press...

But when I say ‘Love you Lord’
The God of all creation inclines His ear!

I wish I could preach like Billy Graham
Or even Arthur Blessitt
Tell jokes like Tim Vine...
The list goes on and on...
If only I could...
I wish I was like...
But,
This is the way you made me God...
WHY?

But when I say ‘Love you Lord’
The Saviour of all mankind,
stops what He is doing
and Inclines His ear!

Ok, I can do,
Walking in the woods, enjoyed nature
Thanking God for the birds and bees..
Baking a cake for my next door neighbour,
Giving a lift to the man down the street
And when he asks me where I’m off to?
I’ll invite him to church...
I’m only a pew warmer
but
I’m there every week...
Feeling totally inadequate
What else can I do?

When l was praying just now,
Father told me the coolest thing...
He said, He called all the angels in heaven over,
To come, 'take a look',
“One of My precious children
just made Me smile and incline My ear!”
When they said those four simple words...
“Lord, I love you

I sat down this afternoon wanting to write something that was profound, spiritual, inspiring, classic
It didn’t happen And now my brain hurts...
So I wrote this...

Faith

Walk on water,
Heal the sick,
Feed five thousand ,
No problem to Him...

Move mountains,
Part rivers,
Preach the gospel,
Heal the sick,
We can do the same...
Jesus promised,
If only we put
Our faith in Him!

Faith is believing
Your sins are forgiven,
Believing the promise of eternal life...
Faith is believing
God’s still in charge,
When the world is in such a state...

Faith is, when the cup seems empty
And you’ve been promised
it would never run dry...
Faith is when you put the cup to your lips
And there seems nowt inside...
Faith is, you’re drinking
Thirst quenching
From His endless supply

Faith...
Can’t see it,
Can’t feel it
Can’t Borrow
Can’t Fake it,
But I know, that I know...

Jesus said it!
Paul did it!
COME ON!
You can do it!
In the name of Jesus
Get up and walk!

Hello Alan;

I was blessed to read your latest, Faith

I know that many poems, writings and songs are prompted by the Spirit. But I have an additional question. Do your poems come out of nowhere? Or do you sit and begin writing until it all falls into place?

God bless you, Alan, and thank you for sharing....again! 😎

‘Do my poems come out of nowhere’ is the best description of what happens when I write I’ve heard.
I never know the where, when, what or why,
when I ‘Hear’ the words in my mind I just have to get them down.
And nearly always the scribbling need little editing
Being mildly dyslexic I have difficulties reading and writing, so when I put pen to paper I believe the Spirit has something to say about...
‘in a way I couldn’t preaching’ a friend retorted!
I did try once sitting down and start writing but got nowhere fast!
Thank you for the encouragement to share my poems
Alan

I initially started about twenty years ago but unfortunately stopped for about eight years after some one ‘blessed’ me with a critique which completely destroyed my confidence ( see my testimony in my profile) but have written more recently mainly for my own entertainment
We must be so carful with our words a favourite phrase of mine is “You only get one chance to make a first reaction”
A word out of season can be so destructive!
