Pastor doesn't want members praying or reading bible together

@Major @CCW95A @Euphemia

Here is another quote found on page 7 of this thread by CCW.
((It can be said that scripture is like a "tool box" to be used by men, and women to teach spiritual principles.))

Now this thinking takes away from what the written word of God is to be to any spirit filled believer. It is Not a tool box full of scriptures or tools simply to aid in teaching.

The written word of God or Scriptures is to be Our Life Style. It is to be how we live 24\7\365
This tool box notion is like saying - hmmm I see there is a problem today so I will dig into my tool box and dig me out some faith and get victory over this.

Scriptures are the very same very much alive written word of God and are to be lived as such and are to be operated as in our daily life.

Scriptures are nothing less then Gods written word - AND should be treated as such.
God Bless
Jim
The problem stems back to the very beginning of every child of God's new birth. The very first thing we learn as a Christian is that the Bible is the "living, active Word of God". As a baby Christian because we don't know anything just say "OK", without ever searching the scriptures to see if this really true.
We never even take to mind why so many people know what God has said, and what he has done through scripture and wonder why they do not know God. How can this be. If the Bible is the living active Word of God then everyone who reads it would have a intimate relationship with God, which is not the case. Scripture testifies and points to the one who gives eternal life which they need to seek after, and ask to come into their heart!!!

How I know this as my wife has taken a couple "New Testament", and "Old Testament" surveys in College her teachers said they do not believe.
How many other cults are out there that use the same Bible we do and they have no clue to who God is, even though they know the scriptures. What is there problem? How can a person know the scriptures and not know God?

Curtis look at your own words here. All this means is those people you talk about are not Qualified to know His truths...........it in no way changes the fact it is still the word of God.

Who makes them "Qualified"? Is not Jesus Christ the living active Word of God make them qualified? Tell me how a person can know the scriptures and not know God. There must be something missing, that we are not seeing.

Once again Curtis you are strtching things too far. ;)
You leave out the big Key here wich is the Answer............One must be Qualified to gain the deep things of Gods word and build their relationship with God.

God put forth His word to work in such a manner as this. He says the hidden truths of His word. Some say Locked truths. Ok then if they are locked then one must need a key to open them. If they are Hidden then one needs the ability to see them. This is the hidden things of His word Curtis - Not His word.

1Peter1:23 - tells us we are born of Incorruptible seed - the Ever Living Word Of God
We have been given His spirit in us - it is through this spirit that we Can Unlock the Hidden things of Gods Word.

Catch this please - Unlock the Hidden things of Gods Word. It is still Gods word bro no matter if you have understanding or not.

My pet paret can quote scriptures............it is still the word of God. However the pet paret has no understanding and thus limits the word of God can do. it is still Gods Word.

Jesus Christ is the one who opens up the scriptures to us, and he is the Word of God which I have already shown in the scripture. If the Bible is the living Word of God in scriptures then we would not need anything else. The problem is there are millions of people who know the scriptures, but they do not have the living Word of God living in them. How can this be if they know the scriptures which most all Christians believe is the living Word of God?

Did God come to bring salvation to your parrot? Was his blood shed so your bird could receive a new parrot heart?

Yes, God the Father, his Living Word, and the Holy Spirit are all one which work together in bringing his Child to maturity. Jesus himself who "lives" inside us, and whose "mind" we have, and the Spirit of God who knows the thoughts of God. How can we know these things unless we first have him in us (the living Word of God who contains all the fullness of the Godhead), and in whom all scripture points to? Do people get saved by reading scripture or by hearing the living Word of God proclaimed?

Rom 10:13 For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Rom 10:14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

Even the devil quoted Scriptures to Jesus Curtis.

Knowing the Bible does not mean that you will know God my dear friend.

That is exactly what I am talking about. Knowing scripture is NOT knowing God. If the the scriptures are the living, active Word of God then we would know God when we read it!!! Scriptures only point to, and testify that Jesus Christ the living active Word of God is what we should be seeking for, and asking to come into our hearts.

Rom. 10:13 simply means that Jew and Gentile are to call upon the Lord Jesus in order to be saved.
"Call upon the name of the Lord" = To believe in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Rom. 10:14 is Paul using logical sequences. Preachers must be sent (1st) in order for people to hear what it is that they are to (2nd)believe.

NO Curtis that is not so! You are very mistaken my brother. Are you thinking about what you are saying????

If I read a new car manual do I all of a sudden become a car?
If I read a medical book on how to take out a heart am I then a cardiologist?
If I read a how to book on how to throw a curve ball, am I then a baseball pitcher?
If I stand in my garage do I become a car?

If the Holy Spirit does not convict the lost man of his sin there is no amount of Bible reading in the world going to save a man.
We are NOT saved by reading the Bible Curtis, we are saved by the shed blood of Christ whose work and actions are found in the written Word of God.

Where did the preacher get the Word of God before it was written in the Bible my brother?

How did man get saved before Christ?

What is it that is taught and heard and learned? The means or method by which God "calls'' or "draws'' all men is the Gospel. "And it was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ." (II Thessalonians 2:14). There is no special, mystical anointing of the Holy Spirit, but rather, the Holy Spirit calls men through the gospel; and it is the gospel that is the power (Romans 1:16).

God draws people unto Himself through the teaching of the gospel. The preaching of the gospel is God's power, his drawing power, to save (I Corinthians 1:18-21). Therefore, all people, when they hear the gospel, at any moment, have the ability to respond to God's gospel call. They also have the ability to reject it (Acts 13:45-48).

Sinners are saved by God's grace when they respond in faithful obedience to the gospel that draws them to God (Matthew 7:21). God is always ready for men to repent and obey (Acts 17:30). It is those who will do so that God has predestined for salvation (1 Thessalonians 5:9). This is an important concept to recognize. God has not predestined individuals to be saved or lost, but rather, has predestined the method by which we are saved. If we obey the gospel, we are baptized "into Christ" (Romans 6:3,4). God has predestined all those "in Christ" to be "blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 1:3). But it is up to us as to whether we will obey or not.

This is exactly what I have been saying all along. There is a external part that we must seek which the Bible points to, his name is Jesus Christ the living active Word of God. He comes to live inside those who believe, and confess him as their Lord. No amount of reading God's Holy scriptures cause one to have life, but it can direct that person to the one who gives eternal life!

Then you better take Romans 10:17 out of the Scriptures because it says that........
"Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God".
