where do you get all that from ? while i dont hold divorce against a person . there are circumstances in divorce they disqualifies them from preaching. i never mentioned divorce other than the person who was the allegedly pastor . for the record i know the person and circumstances him being ordained which was not by a presbytery. nor was he called to preach he was a follower of feelings
I get it from the Bible my brother!
1 Timothy 3:1-3.........
"The saying is trustworthy: If a man aspires to the office of a bishop, he desires a noble task. Therefore a bishop must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money."
Now please READ that Scripture and then post for all of us where it says that a Bishop (Pastor) can not be a "Divorced" man!!!
What the Scriptures actually and literally say is that a Pastor must be a MAN and that man must be MARRIED. There is not one single word or suggestion of the word "divorce" in that Scripture.
It was correctly stated in post #39 by my friend
Siloam that it was Gods command that a Pastor be married to only ONE woman at a time.
It was common in that day for men to marry several women. One to do his cleaning, one to do his cooking and on and on!
God never ever suggested "Polygamy". That is the reason or "Must be the husband of ONE Wife"!
Thanks for the question brother.
