Journal The Cabin

THE LAKE has broken...... I REPEAT.... the Lake has BROKEN.

There must be a technical term for that but I just call it broken.... meaning when the water finally flows freely and the ice is GONE....... That happened two days ago... and I did my HAPPY DANCE.... plus ran to the neighbours to DECLARE that the LAKE was BACK..... HAHAHA. My neighbours have learned to EXPECT my very silly gestures through out the year... and so they simply CASUALLY open their door.... watch me do my song and dance and then.... we all move on. HAHAHA. I think they secretly enjoy my little gestures of silliness and JOYFUL NOISE.

Anyways.... lots of work to be done. I have to wait until we have a few dry days before attempting to RAKE the gazillions of dead leaves and pine needles. That is the LEAST fun of all spring jobs.

Just wanted to do a quick check-in. I am being picked up for coffee in THREE minutes... HA.

Have a WONDERFUL DAY my beautiful FORUM FAMILY.
I thought of `Morning has broken like the first morning...` And I think you are very scriptural - `Make a joyful shout to the Lord all you lands..` (Ps. 110: 1)

We in OZ are still in the low 20`s and will soon meet you in the teens coming down as you are going up. If you can understand all that about the weather. And what temps do you get in Summer?

That might actually be why I word it the way I do.... It's a very harsh phenomenon....and many things can happen with a spring melt-off. This year... everything was smooth and slow.... and so no damage to properties due to the high winds blowing HUGE pieces of ICE to the shore.

When I say the lake has broken.... I think of the WATER rising up ABOVE the ICE.. and re-establishing itself. So much happens in my lake... through out the year. I think it's the ONLY kind of SCIENCE that I like. I find the different stages so very interesting and I celebrate them all.

The count down begins TODAY as to when my FIRST swim will be. I experimented last year and found that 11.8 degrees C is as cold as I will go... as it hurts the skin... and I am not into that. October 22, 2024 was my last dip.

I think this year... I will start with a rounded off 12 degrees C. I looked up the temperature of the lake and it's 4.5 degrees C. I am expecting to be able to go in within the next 10 days... depending on how nice our days are.

I DID understand everything you said about the weather... we are reverse in seasons... so this is now your HARVEST/ AUTUMN.

It was LOVELY to see you in the CABIN Marilyn C ... I hope you sat in Bob's CHAIR and enjoyed a FIZZY drink from Mr. Moose's stash... which I am NOTICING is pretty much in every little nook and cranny. He has a fear of being WITHOUT his beloved beverage. I found a few fizzy drinks in my winter boots a few days ago.
:D

We had their air raid HONKS beginning in March. Bruce said he will be swimming in your lake again soon. We have some stay here for quite a while and will hang out at a golf course since they have pond and lake accommodations with scenic cats-of-nine-tails and the like. They show their appreciation by fertilizing the grassy areas with their dropping productions.

Those tomato plants look great! You will LOVE those cherry tomatoes.

I enjoy nothing else more the observing the world God created. Birds of all kinds are sweet creatures.
About the only things I dont like are mosquitoes, stinging bugs, and poisonous anything's.
I can even tolerate a NYC subway rat so long as it doesnt want to chase me, lol.
Oh and roaches; they are simply a menace.
