Is there something you would like to share??? Spit it out.... WHAT did that nasty ground hog do to YOU?????
I have had vegetable gardens for many years. My nemesis was the GROUND HOG! I put up a fence to keep them out. He burrows under and steals tomatoes, beans, peas, anything he can get his grubby mitts on. I plant extra, a lot extra, to allow for this. He just destroys more! Where he burrows under the fence, I put a live trap. My neighbor is nice enough to take them to ground hog heaven for me. I start catching them, yes, more than one, more than two or three. This goes on all growing season. They still burrow another hole or climb the fence to break it to get in. I planted broccoli one year. As soon as the plants got started to about 6 inches tall, Mr. Ground Hog comes in and chews all ten to 15 plants down to the ground. He would attack green bean plants in a similar way. You can forget about planting spinach. UGH!
And then there are all the holes they make under my shed! At times I felt like Wile E. Coyote trying to catch Roadrunner. Except I had like 22 Roadrunners!

I really TRIED to read this with "empathy" as my dominant lens... and.... I am trying to imagine this scenario playing out in my little garden area.... I too... would NOT be happy.

With the above said.... YOU have made a very sad TALE.... rather ( quite a bit ) comical.

BAD HOG!!!!

I put up a fence to keep them out. He burrows under and steals tomatoes, beans, peas, anything he can get his grubby mitts on.
Try as I might..... to NOT feel inappropriate emotions.... I am feeling EMPATHY for this little creature with the grubby mitts.

I plant extra, a lot extra, to allow for this. He just destroys more!

So.... What you appear to be suggesting is that this is REVENGE on the part of the grubby mitted one.You killed his favourite uncle and now he is out to make you suffer. ....................................... BAD HOG!!!

They still burrow another hole or climb the fence to break it to get in. I planted broccoli one year. As soon as the plants got started to about 6 inches tall, Mr. Ground Hog comes in and chews all ten to 15 plants down to the ground.

It would be kind of wasteful to leave a healthy broccoli plant only HALF eaten.
He would attack green bean plants in a similar way. You can forget about planting spinach. UGH!
That to me seems to show that he does NOT discriminate and that he likes ALL his vegetables. Just sayin.

And then there are all the holes they make under my shed! At times I felt like Wile E. Coyote trying to catch Roadrunner. Except I had like 22 Roadrunners!

So.... I guess it was wise of me to suggest that if any ground hogs were planning on coming to Karaoke night at the Cabin... they should arrive in DISGUISE.

My neighbour had a ground hog burrowing under their shed but he did not stay long for some reason. I have not seen the damage that these critters can do... and YES... It would be VERY VERY DISHEARTENING for sure.

Here our biggest problem seems to be the squirrels.... OH my goodness we have squirrels and then more squirrels... and they also do damage.... but I was very lucky last year... that everything I planted in the garden survived unscathed.

Thank you for sharing your story... I hope my "objective" critique brings a wee smile to your BIG MOOSE HEART.
