Trials and Troubles more precious than gold

2Pe 1:2.. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
2Pe 1:3.. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4.. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Obviously, if you do not know the Word of God concerning these promises that pertain to "life", and "godliness", or have no faith to believe for them, you will never experience them in your life.
Such to tragedy for a child of God.
A greater tragedy is thinking these divine rewards are carnal treasures.

Speaking of the Apostle Paul....

Act 28:28 Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen."
Act 28:30 He lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him,

Remember, when you give you receive back.

Luk 6:38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you."
I am wondering how you missed verse 35?
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Add that to Matt 6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

Note how Jesus did not say ''expect a little back, expect a lot back, expect what you gave back''.

Note how Jesus did not say ''store up a little on earth and a little in heaven, store up a lot on earth and a lot in heaven''.

You do not make sense. What is this chasing after stuff ? Gods desireis to bless you abundantly so you can give unto others. No one has ever said God is not the provider. You do not care for money....Is this an attempt to sound humble ? It is selfish for you should be belieivng God for much so you can give not oh well if one day He does then maybe I will have some to give.........Thats selfish..........
Jim you think one morsel of God desires to give us money to bless others with money? You need to grasp the SARCASM in Matt 6:26 already...

If my God my Father in heaven chooses to give me anything, I will be blessed by it. He has done so before.
If He blesses me to the point where I can bless anyone else with that gift, then I will do so as freely I have received and freely I will give, according to His word.
But I am not for one moment willing to live with any inclination of having anything that require me to say, I have to chase this thing or that thing, or I have to protect this thing or protect that thing.
He is number one. He is my provider and if I am to have anything, it will be by His hand only. Thus, I do not care for money.
How can you not care for money?? Don't you know that if you rich God can use you for so many wonderful things? Like a missionary trip on a cruise ship to the Bahamas. Where all the evil peopl are partying.

Well, i dont think anyone is being selfish.
If you a dad and ask God to help you provide for you family who dependent on you, thats fine. But some people are single. They dont need as much. Being single is not selfish. And God doesnt need our money. He wants our love and devotion. We may not be able to give monetarily but we can give our time and what we do have.

1. Care to explain further please.

2. So what you are saying is that we need to brainwash ourselves. We do not automitaically trust that God will provide. We have no faith in Him? We have to isolate, memorize and repeat promises....from our Father....to our Father....

1. The Israelites plundered the Egyptians.

Exodus 3:21-22

And I will cause the Egyptians to look favorably on you. They will give you gifts when you go so you will not leave empty-handed. 22 Every Israelite woman will ask for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Egyptian neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their wealth.”

2. I'd say every Christian needs to make a concerted effort to maintain his trust in God's promises---that is, the ones they are aware of. We must study God's word to avail ourselves of the myriad promises God makes to us. I don't know anyone who's trust in God is automatic. No--it is grown and made deeper through experience and the knowledge of God and His sure promises.

So you don't think the prodigal son is a reference more to the person that returns to their vomit? Returns to loving darkness and hating light?

tellme how exactly not applying the concepts of faith / saying 'your will be done God' = choosing our own way? I think you have that backwards.

Re-read my post and discover what I am clearly saying. Don't twist it, now! I think you're getting it backward.

I am willing to bet $1million that money / prosperity was the LAST thing on their mind.

How do you leave the world and the desires of the flesh behind by pursuing the world and the desires of the flesh?

Money and financial prosperity is only on the minds of those who have an inordinate love of money. Those who have the prosperity of God do not.
