Trials and Troubles more precious than gold

Nobody here is saying they havent asked God for anything and not received any answer. So I am not sure what your beef is fishcatcherjim. Everyone is different, what is blessing to you may be totally unnecessary to someone else.

God is not a genie.
God always works things out to the good of those who love him. people who are content are amazing people, no matter what circumstances. I know one lady who had absouletly everything she could wish for, house, children, no worry, able to do whatever she liked. But her husband did not know the Lord. So even though it was like a million dollar house and property, and she could give someones year salary to the church she was unhappy. She was tied to this house and never was able to do what she believed God wanted her to do, which was go out and preach and evangelise. When she got ill, she believed that God had promised her she would get better by repeating healing scriptures. She was into that WOF teaching. let me tell you she died of cancer.

She thought it all had to happen right away. No, sometimes that isnt the case. It was not all on her. Also, we are all completely healed when we are resurrected. What God was teaching her was to submit to her husband, and love him. I said let your husband look after you, that is how he can show his love.

I remember her being very judgmental once of people who didnT gIve as much as she had to the offering. Well the rich think everyone inhabits their world. Some of us dont have the means. Besides it was not her earnings it was mostly her husbands. She said, when I invited her to my humble abode, she wished for the simple life. Maintaining a big property is a big responsibility. One time i went to help her and she did pay me for a bit of gardening work. But when she found out I liked blue cheese, she was more than happy to pay me with that instead of money!! I think I preferred that too, you cant eat money.

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

This applies to a person who is walking according to His will. Not just being a Christian will cause this to happen.
Lanolin I love you and hold no aught against you but you are truly allowing your personal feelings about money and preachers dictate how you see things and speak. What you are saying does not even fit into what I or others wrote.

Look if you want me to be your target that is cool because you make me smile and laugh but dont change what is said because of how you feel about certains subjects.
Thank you for sharring and I am looking forward to hearing from you more.
God Bless you my Wonderful sister.

Ananias and Sapphira lied because...

A. they did not want to keep a portion of their money.
B. they did want to keep a portion of their money.
C. for no reason whatsoever.

Oh boy a quiz show....what do I win if I get it correct ? Hmm I will take whats behind door number two.............; )
KJ we have been over this and you have no valid point with this concerning this topic.
We all know they decided to keep some for them selves and say they gave it all. However we also know it was said that it was their money and they did not have to give it all and so forth and it was THE FACT THAT THEY LIED TO THE HOLY SPIRIT. So how do you want to play this one ?

They lied to the Holy Spirit because

A. they wanted to keep their money.
B. they did not want to keep their money.
C. they just felt like it.

It was their money. They agreed to give it. They changed their mind and wanted to hold onto some. So they lied.

This speaks to us of being sold out for Jesus. We either trust our lives entirely in His hands, or we want some tangible money (best case scenario) or a promise we can hold Him too (second best case scenario) to cushion that whole trust / live by faith thingy...

Wow this is how you played that. Brother lets just agree to disagree and move on.
This has become as bad as debating if the world is round......
See you around the corner in the next thread my friend.
Have a great day

I would prefer you just answer the question. You have accused me of not grasping this. Explain to me how people lie for no reason.

Answer what ?
People lying has nothing to do with your sold out to Jesus theory.
Now as I said lets let this go. It is like beating a dead horse and I am tired of trying to show you what scripture says when your mind is already made up that you are correct and anything else is wrong.

Now there is my answer and have a very wonderful day
God bless you

Jim I said, they pursued wealth = why they died. You said they lied = why they died. I disagree and have shown you why. You have not proven your statement to me.

1. The Israelites plundered the Egyptians.
Exodus 3:21-22
And I will cause the Egyptians to look favorably on you. They will give you gifts when you go so you will not leave empty-handed. 22 Every Israelite woman will ask for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Egyptian neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their wealth.”

2. I'd say every Christian needs to make a concerted effort to maintain his trust in God's promises---that is, the ones they are aware of. We must study God's word to avail ourselves of the myriad promises God makes to us. I don't know anyone who's trust in God is automatic. No--it is grown and made deeper through experience and the knowledge of God and His sure promises.

1. Haha, who would have thought the prosperity teachers would grab that one :giggle:.

There is plenty scripture that speaks of God financially blessing the Jews. But alas, we are not Jews.

2. Euphemia, if you believe God is good, died for you and is all powerful... do you think there is a need to hold / memorize promises? Shouldn't you 'just know'. Matt 6:26 = sarcasm for this reason.

God just GAVE HIS LIFE for me and I am going to HOLD HIM to deliver on X , Y and Z?

Point 1. Did they not melt it up into a calf to worship?

Point 2. Fully agree.

Itis not about you or me lanolin. It is about God and reaching the lost and supplying to the ministriers and so forth. The selfish thing is to be happy with just the little you and your family needs and NOT GIVING unto His ministries. That is selfish for if you were seeing things through His word you would see that He wants to bless you abundantly SO YOU HAVE ALL YOU NEED AND MUCH, MANY, LOTS LEFT OVER TO GIVE TO THOSE IN NEED AND INTO HIS MINISTRIES.....

You say God does not want our money..........Ok say in three days God wants you to rent a car and drive 700 miles to help this lady who only you can get through to. You dont have the money........So what you dont go ? NO it would come from others such as CCW or me or Euphemia or Mykuhl and so forth. You would not get any help from those who only want the little tiny bit they need and nothing more cause got to stay poor to be humble......they have little to nothing to give.
Actually, God would tell her, take no money bag for the trip, take no extra jacket. He would provide for her to reach that person for the further wonder He is about to do.

Isn't it funny, they never thought to build it before they were told it was wrong! Until this time, man lived under grace. For 1500 years, they lived under the Law for the arrogance of saying they could keep it. God only wanted them to say "Lord, we can't keep it. We wait upon your verdict in our lives." and they would have stayed under grace. :(

God blesses us with extra when we are walking in faith, so that we can share with others---which should be our focus. If that means from our wallets, then we must be able to do so and God will make a way for us to do that. Money isn't a dirty word, you know.

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
And the blessing God wants you to give is not necessarily money. It can be many things, we must remember this. We are all members of the body of Christ, but the body has many members, members have different qualities for different purposes.

Hello Lanolin,
I am not sure why you felt this way when you said..You dont know ppls circumstances, its not right for you to judge.

How did I judge any one ? By saying they are selfish to not desire to be blessed with more so they have some to give ? If that is judging then I simply judged with what the word of God teaches us to be like. This life we have here on earth is NOT about us. It is about God and His business or will or desire and believe me His will and desire will get done on this earth even if people refuse to be a part of it. He can do things more then one way and if so and so wont answer the call then He will simply get some one who will.

BUT to those who refused to walk in His ways here in this earth will be judged from what they actually did of what God had planned for them to do.
Blessings Lanolin
Jim
So tell me Jim.
Do you think I just live for myself?

1 Tim 6:3-10

If any one teaches otherwise and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching which accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit, he knows nothing; he has a morbid craving for controversy and for disputes about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, base suspicions, and wrangling among men who are depraved in mind and bereft of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.

There is great gain in godliness with contentment; for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world; but if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content.

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs
.

Uh..I am already blessed by being his child. I dont know why you think I ought to be begging for more, or why you arrogantly think I dont have anything to bless other people with. God has given me over and above what I ask for and also I do not live for myself. Every christian lives to love others.

They may not do it in the exact same way as you do, but they love just the same. When God wants me to tell someone the gospel, he is never lacking giving me the tools.

If we elevate something higher than Him, it sure qualifies in the same way where there is an image of another god in your camp.
Camp by the way according to me can be your family, house, belongings, business, etc.

I google to what verse it was referring to : )
Deuteronomy 23:9 ...

Yes, I agree… we sanctify, make holy our “things of this world” cares, that is our camp, our temporary tent….

Same goes with our intentions, I think.... as Christians edify each other in a forum : )
I try to "believe all things" Love, 1 Corinthians 13...
I think Christians is of the same mind, God first…

Confusion in a forum, i think, is more on sentence construction...

example:
We pray for blessings, so we can share more….or…..
We pray for that we can share, thus comes the blessings that we can share more…..

it may not matter to some how the sentence is constructed, or it matters to some how it was constructed... in my case, I take pain to read how the sentence is constructed, thus, i need to a apply "Principles of Charity" in understanding what other is saying, if i do not, I find my head aches reading the exchanges : )

"We make maximum sense of the words and thoughts of others when we interpret in a way that optimises agreement"

You are right. Putting words to keyboard is way different than having a face to face conversation. Now how must I draw the pictures I usually do with my fingers in conversation.
I have noticed people tend to miss each other easily on any form of on-line forum or news group, therefore, I was unsure to part-take.
I do miss workday weekly bible study groups due to my complete funky hours of work though, so joined in the hope to pull some back. I cannot go a day without studying the word of God and also to discuss it, I actually live it.

But yes, the things we put above God happens like a finger snap, and except for it being things, you make a good point being our intentions, and I think we can add things of our reasoning of the mind.
Now if I take my lifespan, and look at the proportion that I have placed "things" above God and also which "things", let me tell you, better to keep yourself safe, and reject those things that can possibly become such strongholds.
Don't get me wrong, things like money has a place, so does our transport, houses, reasoning and whatever. It's just to keep ourselves not going over the edge, and I feel God has given us a responsibility in this regard. We must stay pure and live to be holy. It is not a once off, here you go - done and dusted, why then do people backslide.
Salvation is something each person is going to work out for themselves, or fail to do so and conform to the ways of the world.

Thanks for this post.

So true. This one time my one kid asked me for food and I gave to him. The other kids did not get food because they did not ask. They so dumb. I have this silly law in my house that if they don't ask or are nervous they will get nothing from me. Haha, I am the best dad ever ain't I?

Maybe it is just me, but I get this funny feeling that we are suppose to ask God for things before we get them.

Mat 7:7.. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Mat 7:8.. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Jas 4:2.. Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Mat_21:22.. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Joh_14:13.. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Joh_15:7.. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Joh_15:16.. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Joh_16:23.. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Joh_16:24.. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

You don't seem to get it that those whom God blesses with wealth are those whom He trusts can handle it. We are not all called to wealth, but we are all called to abundance in Jesus Christ---abundance in all areas. That is biblical---all the way back to the OT. One of God's names means the God-Of-More-Than-Enough. Not one single believer is called to poverty, which is a curse.
