Gal 3:10-14

Galatians 3:10-14

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
Law and Promise

10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written: Everyone who does not continue doing everything written in the book of the law is cursed.[a] 11 Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith.[b] 12 But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them.[c] 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written: Everyone who is hung on a tree is cursed.[d] 14 The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.

These are my thoughts please share yours.

10 To live by the law is imposible, that is why Christ came. If we are able to keep of the law we will fail in other parts of it because we are sinners.

11 We are not justified thru our own efforts but by our belief of God doing what He said and God having done what He said. Faith putting our trust in God. We can only have a right standing withGod by faith thru Christ and this justifies us.

12 The law is work based and is not about what God did for us but what we can do for God. We really can never do anything for God. The law became something the Pharissees used to brag about themselves. We do not do this by faaith because our faith is not from our own efforts but from God showing us mercy.

13 Christ became our curse and by doing this taking the curse that was also but on Adam, by Christ we take from the tree of life which, Adam had to leave and was unable to eat. Our relationship with God is restored thru Christ.

14 The Spirit comes not only to Jewish believers but to all believers in Christ. Abraham and the Jewish people were promised a land but all believers will go to a land that Jesus has prepared for us and that is heaven.

No you missed understood Jewish nonbelievers are promised a land now but all believers both Jewish and Gentile are promised a kingdom Jesus will prepared for us. It by faith in Christ that we recieve these promises not by a blood line.

Non-believing Jews will not get it. Something will happen between now and then.

Romans 11:23,25-29

And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
or this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Zechariah 13:1,9

In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

Enlighten me if you will. Is there a connection to replacement theology here? If not, please, nobody turn this topic into a debate about replacement theology.

Yep........Agreed!

snippity snip snip.

Yes Clark pretty basic straight forward statements .
Of course the promised land was for the Jews, not the gentiles.
Of course with the redemptive work by Jesus all who receive eternal life will inherit all that goes with it regardless of what is written on their birth certificates.
Good points, easily understood.

I still don't understand the underlined: Where does the Word say that:

a) Secular Jews will get ancient real estate??...Seems that is for sure a "blood-line" promise, as you couched it.

b) How is a born again person either a Jew or a Gentile, if the Word says "their is no Jew or Greek in Christ"?

6 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Where do you believe the Lord will be when He returns to earth.

Well...the Word says to meet "Him in the clouds"...earth clouds....From there, it depends on what one sees as happens after the raising of the saints and where Christ takes them and what happens next. So it depends utterly on how one reads the book of Revelation, which shows where Christ will be, after the resurrection of the redeemed.

It seems our friend sees the planet becoming a secular Jewish property and Gentiles (and born again Jews) go to heaven...That I don't see in the Word.

Let's see what Jesus says about His return, in order to glean a better understanding of this subject.

31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Where is His Throne on glory located?

5 Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the Lord my God will come, And all the saints with You. 6 It shall come to pass in that day That there will be no light; The lights will diminish. 7 It shall be one day Which is known to the Lord-- Neither day nor night. But at evening time it shall happen That it will be light. 8 And in that day it shall be That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, Half of them toward the eastern sea And half of them toward the western sea; In both summer and winter it shall occur. 9 And the Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be-- "The Lord is one," And His name one. Zechariah 14:5-9

So you are advocating that both the wicked and the righteous are resurrected at the same time?

The first verse only mentions the "angels", not humans.

The Zechariah verse mentions saints and not angels.....Could be looking at two different events and not one?

29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

This perspective shows both angels and humans. This event is the Day of the Lord.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

This scripture is a reference to the Day of The Lord.

10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. 11 In that day there shall be a great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning at Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 And the land shall mourn, every family by itself: the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves; 13 the family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of Shimei by itself, and their wives by themselves; 14 all the families that remain, every family by itself, and their wives by themselves.

This scripture is a reference to the day of the Lord.

Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the Lord my God will come, And all the saints with You. 6 It shall come to pass in that day That there will be no light;[ see ] The lights will diminish.

These are all references to the Day of the Lord.

All the same event.

His place as well as His throne is in Jerusalem. We will be with Him.

There is indeed a Scriptural distinction between the Rapure and the Lord's coming in power and glory; between the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne. Part of the contextual question is: who is the Lord dealing with: the church or the world in general?

Blessings.

Right, Forouk...JLB did not (IMO) respond to this:

The Resurrection and taking away of the saints from the entire earth seems clearly a different event from the Judgment of the wicked.

I agree; if you and I are fellow-dispensationalists, this would seem obvious, yes.

Blessings.

Nope....in no way a Dispy...The difference I see between the resurrections is biblical, not hinged on Darby, Scofield or their agendas.

Well, I'm sure you have your ideas about this, but in very general terms at least this is where I would be coming from.

Blessings.

OK...Yes...most Protestants adhere to some parts of Dispensationalism (it's very much in vogue the past 100 years)...but I think, since this idea of 2 resurrections of the dead has been known for thousands of years before Darby or his side-kick were born, it's not correct to credit the concept to them.

I would generally agree in historical terms, I guess. For myself I don't have a problem in quoting folk who have stated certain things in a certain way, which in this area happen to be Darby, Scofield and others. I do agree with your general point. Blessings.

I don't either....However: I prefer to give credit where it is due....I wouldn't quote Branson, owner of Virgin Airlines, if he claims to have invented the airplane. He just rebranded an airline style....big diff.

But back to the point. It seems our friend here is suggesting a general resurrection, the lost among the redeemed...I wonder if he is, or is writing to sketchily or what?

I guess I can't speak for him. :) Blessings.

28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Hebrews 9:28

Jesus Christ will return Once!

There are not many Comings, Appearing's or Returns as others have tried to say.

He will return only once, and stay here to rule and reign from Jerusalem.

JLB...and what it means for the believer and what it means for the unbeliever are two different aspects.

Assessing believers' service and executing judgment on earth are also distinct.

What happens when He gets here can be found in Matthew 25, however he will appear a second time and stay.
