What kind of degrees of punishment in hell are there.
No way to determine that my brother.
Their will be "Rewards" for some in heaven and the opposite will take place in hell.
It is important to realize that every saint will be rewarded “according to his deeds.” Matthew 16:27............................... “For the son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels;
and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds”.
All we can known is that for some, their punishment will be less than others and that is based on the information that they had concerning the Lord Jesus Christ. The ones who knew and rejected Christ will suffer more than those who did not know.
Matthew 10:11-15 (KJV).........
"And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."
Matthew 11:20-24................
"Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee."
Not all people are equally bad. Though all deserve damnation because all are sinners, different people have committed different degrees of sin.
Romans 3:23 (KJV).............
"ALL have sinned and come short of the glory (approval) of God".
Romans 6:23 (KJV)............
"For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord".
Luke 12:47-48. (KJV).......
“And that slave who knew his master’s will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, shall receive many lashes,
but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a flogging, will receive but few. And from everyone who has been given much shall much be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.”
John 19:11..........................
“Jesus answered [Pilate], 'You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me up to you has the greater sin.' ”
Heb. 10:29........................
“
How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?”
So then, it is logical and Biblical that those with the
greatest responsibility can expect the
strictest judgment. That is exactly what the Bible teaches as a principle.
Ezekiel 3 :17-21.......................
"Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, “Thou shalt surely die,” and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thy hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again, when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning; and thou hast delivered thy soul".
James 3:1............
“Be not many of you teachers, my brethren, knowing that we shall receive
heavier judgment”.
2 Peter 2:20-21...........
"For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome,
the last state is become worse with them than the first".
If Peter’s statement teaches anything, it teaches degrees of punishment.
Luke 12:42-48.........................
"And the Lord said, “Who, then, is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall set over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath. But if that servant shall say in his heart, ‘My lord delayeth his coming,’ and shall begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the unfaithful. And that servant, who knew his lord’s will, and made not ready, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; but he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more” .
The meaning of the last section of this parable is inescapable. All the wicked will be punished; however, those limited in their opportunities to learn about Christ will be punished “with fewer stripes” than those who knew the truth and obeyed it not.
