Is Anyone Celebrating Passover?

Of course this is the OLD TESTAMENT LAW... but are you "following" some silly false god called Ishtar when you go to worship Christ on Easter? I hope not...the term "easter" means nothing... Its the worship you render to God, in memorial to Christ, that has value unto the Father. What the devil is trying to do is to steal away our worship of Christ by trying to make everything appear as some sort of sin.. as to hinder us from a pure conscience..whereby all true worship must come.

Thank you Mitspa... the word Easter is not even in our language in Europe, the word we use is Pasqua which means 'solemnity' and i do believe it may be taken after the Jewish Pesach or Passover... do we not 'passover' from sinners to obedient lovers of our Lord...? As the Jews passed from enslavement and were free of their masters so are we passing over from the slavery of sin and becoming free of sin ... don't why the English word is Easter but when i grew up there was no misconception of what the holy day of our Lord's resurrection was and no second meaning to it, it was always PASQUA... <><

Interesting...I was just doing a study of the Greek words used in the New Covenant, kinda writing my own dictionary of New Testament Greek words...The word for star is "astar" in the Greek...I think it could be related to this whole topic in some way?

Yes. I think it's perfectly fine for Christians to celebrate Passover. I think we should focus on biblical things instead of all the pagan stuff.

Many Christians when they go to Israel there are Jewish families that will host them for a seder meal... i have always wanted to do that and i will one day sit with a Jewish family and re-enact the Passover seder that our Lord did ... Christ was born a Jew and He did as Jews did, i truly don't think He ate the lamb, but He did honor the festivity that was so important to the people He was born in... and at the last supper He gave all the apostles the rite of priesthood with the washing of the feet and letting them know that whoever is first shall be last and that those who are leaders are to serve his fellow man...

You may be right, but when it comes to this holy day of what in English we call 'Easter' in my language i grew up with it is always 'Pasqua' ... nothing to do with ashtar...

Well of course the English and many of the western tongues find root in the Greek..Latin.. Not sure how all this came about? But He is risen! Glory and let no religious group make us feel guilty about remembering Him in this!

i really would like to know how you know if a chicken is happy or not... tell the truth your words seems rather silly that it is okay to kill a happy chicken and eat him but not a sad chicken... :giggle:

I was watching something on discovery channel. It was about this family in Alaska that hard a farm. I believe it was called the last frontier or something. I remember the guy was getting read to kill one of his animals, and he was talking about keeping the animal calm right before they kill it, because it would affect the tenderness of the meat.

What do you guys in California do? blindfold them?..

If you really are that concerned about the animal then why do you kill them, happy or not, and eat them...??? It has been about 5 years i no longer eat any meat, whether beef, pork or fowl or any other mammal for the reason that i don't like the way they are killed... they are put on conveyors belt and chopped, and even if killed ''humanly'' by hand it is still making the animal suffer and they die knowing they are being killed... so, "Where'' if you really care then stop eating all meat at all times and advocate others to do the same... ;)

Yea Where!...put you money where your belly is and stop trying to be on the fence about this issue! :D

"even if killed ''humanly'' by hand it is still making the animal suffer and they die knowing they are being killed…"

Any evidence to back this statement? :)

I can't stop eating meat, I need protein. My whole convo with Mitspa started because we were talking about organic food.

You know chipotle chickens are free ranged. You probably meat that's been pumped full of chemicals, and kicked around
Well I don't ask no questions.. other than is the bird cooked and is it clean... and who worries about a few chemicals.. I have worked in the auto industry for the last few years, we have so many chemicals and metal dust, that what it is some little bird don't amount to nothing... I trust the Lord alone for my health and He will never fail me.. I would that others would be delivered from this unbiblical fear and rejoice in that The Lord is our Protector and our Shield.

Actually you can get protein, which is even better, in plants and nuts, animals do not have to be killed to get protein... besides has anyone read ever in any passages that our Lord ate anything but fish, and fish was specified 3 times... hmmmm ? In Genesis our Father gave us and animals plants to eat not to kill each other for food...
Before i stopped eating mammals altogether i was considered a carnivore, i loved steaks and they had to be black and blue for me to be able to enjoy them besides all the other animals that i enjoyed eating... then i just stopped. Not because of health or because i didn't like it (and i am far from being a liberal tree-hugging type), but because it no longer felt right for me. Not that God said we can't, just personally i couldn't any longer ...

As for the evidence to back up statement that animals do know they are going to be killed there are many reports that do state that animals feel and know they are being killed... mammals have senses and brains large enough to comprehend they will die at the hands of men and feel pain...

http://www.veganoutreach.org/whyvegan/slaughterhouses.html

"Animals in slaughterhouses can smell, hear, and often see the slaughter of those before them.

As the animals struggle, they’re often abused by frustrated workers, who are under constant pressure to keep the lines moving at rapid speeds."

"Hogs, unlike cattle, are dunked in tanks of hot water after they are stunned to soften the hides for skinning. As a result, a botched slaughter condemns some hogs to being scalded and drowned. Secret videotape from an Iowa pork plant shows hogs squealing and kicking as they are being lowered into the water."

"In [URL='http://www.grandin.com/inc/visual.thinking.html']Thinking in Pictures
, Dr. Temple Grandin describes the “shackle and hoist” method of ritual slaughter( kosher and halal):

Prior to slaughter, live cattle were hung upside down by a chain attached to one back leg. It was so horrible I could not stand to watch it. The frantic bellows of terrified cattle could be heard in both the office and the parking lot. Sometimes an animal’s back leg was broken during hoisting."

“Still Moreno would cut. On bad days, he says, dozens of animals reached his station clearly alive and conscious. Some would survive as far as the tail cutter, the belly ripper, the hide puller.

“‘They die,’ said Moreno, ‘piece by piece
.’'

maybe we should all stop eating mammals ... as for the way chickens and fowls are killed there is no regulation as to how to kill them...

Yea its not pretty but these animals are animals...not people. They are food and that's there place in this world.
