What are your favorite gifts from the holy spirit.. and which ones do you have :)))

These are my favorites.......
Prophecy - a word from God to the person or people being addressed.

Healing - a supernatural ability to heal the sick.

Miracles - a supernatural ability to work miracles.

Faith - a supernatural level of faith that transcends anything man could reach by himself.

Discernment of Spirits - the supernatural ability to see or otherwise discern the presence of angels or demons. ( this one is my favorite, but I know im not made for discerning lol esp..on that level, seeing anything from the norm would freak me out lol)

and gift of mercy (my best friend has this gift)

Eeeerrrr and i the gifts that were given to me are ..... prophecy, missionary, intercession... and thats it lol... what about you?? :))

The gift of piety and mercy. I am not very strong in it, but I continue to pray for it. My faith is strong, but it's nothing if I don't have Christian piety for others.

Can you explain what piety is to you and where it is said to be a spiritual gift?

Piety, in simple terms, is to do what is always pleasing to God, and in extension to others because of God's love. In Isaiah 11:2-3, it is regarded as godliness. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.

I'd like a list, honestly. I don't even know what they are because I never thought to be concerned about it. My wife said "Leader " instead of "Teacher" is what she thinks my gift is.

To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. (1 Corinthians 12:8-11 NLT)

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! (Galatians 5:22, 23 NLT)

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. (Romans 12:6-8 NLT)

I left these verses out by accident.

Interesting. Where in the scripture is there a complete list of every Spiritual gift?

Romans 12:6-8
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11;27-28
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.
7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. 27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. 28 Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church:

first are apostles,
second are prophets,
third are teachers,
then those who do miracles,
those who have the gift of healing,
those who can help others,
those who have the gift of leadership,
those who speak in unknown languages.

But are we to take this as final list? Or Paul is simply quoting a few? For example, we don't see music as a spiritual gift..

Can you give us the scriptural passages that lists those seven gifts?

I don't have scripture for this, this is my opinion and personal experience. Music ability is a talent given to us by God. I have played music for about 25 years now, the majority of that being ministry related. I have seen and do continue to see spiritual gifts operating within musicians.

Yes, music could be considered a talent as well.. but how would we then differentiate talent and spiritual gift? That is my next question :) For example, leadership.. If that is spiritual gift, we see great leaders who are unbelievers also.. So in a way leadership skills are talents also.. Then why not music be considered a spiritual gift?

Just giving my view.. Not trying to argue.. I believe the list is not limited..

As an artist, I was blessed with a talent by birth, as many who are musically inclined. Of course, natural talent is something that believers need to give to the Lord for His glory. He will use all we give to Him for His purposes, but that doesn't always mean that our natural talents are spiritual gifts. That is something only we and the Lord can agree on. I believe that if our talents are given to Him and they burgeon with power and the ability to move others in the Lord, then they can certainly be considered spiritual gifts.

God may use a natural talent and He may not.

I remember when I was taking a class many years ago about spiritual gifts, our pastor who led it talked about these things and said that there are certain people who may consider these talents as spiritual gifts, especially when God is appointing a person with them to use them for His purposes and glory. This can be demonstrated in the Old Testament in the relating of the Lord's instructions to build the tabernacle, where he commissioned builders and craftsmen to do His will.

Exodus 35:31-35
The Lord has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. 32 He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. 33 He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft. 34 And the Lord has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach their skills to others. 35 The Lord has given them special skills as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth, and weavers. They excel as craftsmen and as designers.

So, I believe also, that as we are led, we can come to the knowledge that the Lord has given us a spiritual gift in these areas, including music, as He has provided His sanctuary with singers, and musicians, and those who are led by the Spirit to compose.
