Unanswered Prayers

I've wrestled with what I believe (no lack, Psa 23) and what I experience (lack). I found this sermon that answers this question. You won't like it, but I dare you to finish it.

I hope this helps as much as it did me, I really needed it.

Question if i may? If you believe ps 23 no lack. Then what are you saying when you experience lack?

Thanks for the video, I have been thinking about this question for few months. I still do not understand why I see so many Christinas who serve to God faithfully for many years and suffer so much for "no obvious reason".

Mal. 3:17 “On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him. 18 And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not."

So for now, we don't see that distinction.

I and my family have medical issues. I believe in healing, but... Isa 53:5 and 1 Pet 2:24 says a promise, but... I'm not sure how to break through to healing.

I am in the same boat with you. But I realize it keeps me closer to God than if I were healthy. As a family we rely on each other more because of our issues.
James 5:10 My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. 11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Avails much but isn't a guarantee to be what you want to happen.

1 Timothy 4:9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. 10 For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

These are great to meditate on. When reading thru 1 Timothy 4, for some reason I was led to also post this for you, or someone reading this. I'm not sure I understand why, but here it is.

1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.
God bless

Being healed is an extraordinarily precious gift. It's often not appreciated by the one who receives that precious gift. People so infrequently really get the significance of what has happened to them... and it becomes just another thing forgotten...

It's also completely undeserved - we cannot Earn or Induce God to heal either ourselves or another. There is no way that we can put God into our debt such that He must act at our bequest.

Worst of all - the testimony of a healing often falls upon deaf ears and does not induce action... God's precious gift is viewed as "Common" or simply "good" by those hearing of it.... God's wonderful work is ignored by the Church leaders because it doesn't fall into their doctrines of "How God does stuff anymore".... Or worst of all - people get jealous and ground down because *They* don't get theirs too....

What, then, is our part in God's unmerited present of a "Healing?"
2 parts...
First - "The Prophet" - He declares God's purposes. He declares that God has foreordained that He is going to perform this work on ANOTHER.... It's not on the Prophet's schedule... It's not on the Prophet's bequest... God allows this man to participate in God's program by declaring God's purpose...

Second - "The witness" - He declares testimony of what God has done. A "True witness" is one who has personally experienced or seen the actual act in question... Not one who heard it from another... This "Witness" is being sent to declare proof of God's works TO specific people on purpose.... This isn't just a random happy person, but rather there's a REASON this specific testimony is sent to SPECIFIC people... Sometimes - as in the case of the Man cleansed of the legion of demons - it's a testimony that induces others to seek Jesus... In others - as in Jesus sending the healed to the Priests - it's as a witness against them (Surely, the Kingdom of Heaven is upon you) ....

Now, carefully, thoughtfully go through 1st Corinthians 12 again... Line by line, word by word. Don't let your familiarity with it blind you to the actual words....

1st Cor 12:8-10
for to ONE is given wisdom through the Spirit
to another one (like the one who received wisdom) - the word of knowledge by the same Spirit
to a different one Faith
to another one (like the one who received the faith) - gifts of healings by the same spirit (Literally, an unmerited present of A healing upon them - NOT the ability to heal)
To a different one - working mighty acts
to another one (Like the one who worked mighty acts) prophecy
.....

One specific Manifestation of the Spirit of God is a healing upon a person.... But - just as not all are hands and not all are eyes - not all receive the manifestation of The Spirit as an unmerited healing upon them. They may receive another manifestation of the same Spirit - such as wisdom or knowledge or prophecy or working mighty acts or languages or interpretation of languages, etc....

My brother,
Rejoice in the wonderful things God HAS done for you. Rejoice and testify true witness of the ways that God manifests His Spirit upon you. Rejoice with others for the wonderful ways that He manifests His Spirit in others that He does not for you... Do not obsess and be frustrated or feel downtrodden about or crave the things He has manifested His Spirit upon others but not on you... because they don't have what YOU have either...

Thanks

Well Brother Abdicate, i believe that because you desire it you are half way there! God desires that we all be well, and enjoy good lives. Sometimes healing takes longer because there is a lack of patience, or a lack of trust, or even a person walking in unforgiveness, can stunt healing.
The Word of God is living and active. And when we take it and feed our spirits with it, just like we would take medicine from a doctor, it brings about faith in the fact that God can fulfill His promises.
First thing that i believe God wants you to do is to search your heart and see if you have any aught against anyone, if so repent. Then look up all the scriptures that reference healing and begin to say them out loud just like you would taking a pain pill or what have you. ( if you want i have a bunch and can write them down for you). See you are the healed, and the devil is trying to convince you that you are sick. Once you get that deep into your spirit, and become convinced of it no matter what you see, you will see a breakthrough.
See faith and all of the promises of God are like seeds. When we plant them into our spirits, and water them, by meditation, and listening to what the Word says, those seeds begin to grow. Romans 10:17 says faith, comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So when you speak the living Word of God (Hebrews 4:12) your causing your ears to hear the Word of God.
A lot of times, we speak what we see in the natural. And the things that we see in the natural is contrary to what the Word of God says. So when we get our words to say exactly what God's word already says, then we give our angels authority to carry our God's Word. Because our angels cannot respond to anything except what God has already spoken.
Ok i better stop, that is a lot to chew on. Sorry for being so long winded. One last thing is to remember that like brother john said healing or any other promise God gives us or fulfills in our lives, is not earned....but that He does it because He loves us. Blessings

Thank You Father for giving abdicate, and any other person that desires it, Revelation knowledge, and Your wisdom for healing. You said that if we ask in faith, and not doubt that You would answer our prayers and give unto us abundantly, without finding fault. (James 1:5) Father i thank You that we are Your sheep and we know Your voice, and that You give us the desires of our hearts because You love us. I thank You for pouring out You presence, upon all who enter this forum, and for being our Inheritance, our cup of Blessing, and that You guard all that is ours. In Jesus Name, i pray and give all the Glory to, Amen!

Every one knows and believes God can heal, but not every one believes God "will" heal them. If we do not know for sure God wills to heal them then it will not happen. there will always be doubt if we are unsure about this. Remember the leper that came to Jesus for healing.

Mat 8:2 And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, if you will, you can make me clean."
Mat 8:3 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Notice: this man knew Jesus could heal, "..you can make me clean..", but he was unsure if Jesus would heal him. When Jesus reached out and touched him, nothing happened. It was not until Jesus said, "I will...". Then he was healed.

The faith required for healing is very specific to the promise from which it comes. It only comes from the Word of God that says it. In other words the faith used for salvation is not the same faith used for healing. Knowing the promise that gives this faith, and believing it, and seeing it by faith as being done is absolutely essential to it becoming manifest in this earthly world. I don't care what my physical senses are telling me, because I am not looking at the things seen, but only at the things unseen, as this is the only time God's eternal power is working for me as when I am seeing done by faith.

The reaching and speaking happened at the same time.

But let's not dissect healing as many other topics are dissected. What matters is a person's faith in God. It is not a lack of faith to say "If it's your will, Lord", but an expression of humility and the understanding that sometimes God says "My grace is enough for you"... in other words, the answer to the request is 'no'. Lack of healing is not always due to some fault in the one requesting it.

I think this is where most Christians have it wrong. You use the word "requesting". God has already done everything He is going to do so putting a request out is like asking Him to do it again. God has already healed us all we have to do is believe and have faith and command it to depart. Yes sometimes it takes longer to manifest and I believe @Cturtle covered this in his previous post.

Morning brother.

I would like to speak to the other side of this question and that is simply......God does not always heal.

We all as Christians "feel" that inward need to say that God heals when we all know that is not always the case.

It seems to me that we all have been laid low and sick in bed, you ask yourself does God always heal today? I am a Christian so why am I so sick????

You turn on the early morning TV evangelist show and the speaker says, “Jeeeeeee-sus doesn’t want you sick!” The TV evangelist says as he nearly pokes his index finger through the camera lens. “When the devil comes to your door with disease, you just reeeeee-buke him in the name of Jeeeee-sus and the foul spirits will fa-leeeeeee!”

The closing theme music begins to play as the camera moves in for a close up and he continues to say, “So, fa-riends, if you want to be permanently free from all diseases, write today. And for just a small donation of twenty-five dollars or more, I’ll send you my latest book on how to….......”

Haven't we all been there and done that.

1Peter 2:24 says, Christ ........
bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”

But as I study God’s Word, I realize there is more to these scriptures and more to just standing firm in faith believing you will be healed, and there are also those whose methods are undesirable.

Something a wise man told me several years ago about this was that when we travel down the road of life, we will always run into pot holes along the way. God can but is not required to fix those potholes we fall into, but instead, will hold our hand as we climb out of those holes and continue down that road of life.

Agreed!

God did not heal Paul, or Timothy or many others we find in the Scriptures.

Most of us just do not like the word "NO". (Me included).

Are you saying we shouldn't pray? Why does scripture tell us to pray? The word "request" is a direct translation of the Greek, sometimes rendered "petition".

Never once said we shouldn't pray. When the apostles healed did they command in Jesus name or request Jesus to heal?

The crippled man did not request or demand or pray anything at all. And Paul requested.

So then, are you saying that you (the one commanding) can command that Jesus heal, say, everybody mentioned in this thread so far?

It seems the Bible speaks to those who have "trials of many kinds", which would include illness and these are specifically addressed to bring us to maturity. God uses whatever it takes to catch our attention, bring us into maturity, and teach us. James said to consider it pure joy.

James 1:3 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.4And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.…

The reasons God does not heal a person is his own, we sometimes have no idea of the why. We were healed from sin, forgiveness of them far outweighs anything that happens in our temporal bodies. Paul said that he counts ALL things a loss in light of Jesus Christ and this includes health.

I'm not going to argue with you. You are trying to put words in my mouth that aren't there. Maybe this was a mistake coming back to this forum.
