YES it is.

It represents TRIALS and TESTING/PROBATION.

It is the product of FIVE and EIGHT..........5 x 8 = 40.

The number 5 = Grace and the number 8 = New Creation.

The number 40 is mentioned 146 times in the Scriptures.

There are 15 periods of trials that appear on the surface of the Scriptures and are thus classified.

1. There was 40 years of Probation by Trial.
Israel in the wilderness.
Israel from the crucifixon to destruction of Jersulem.


2. There was 40 years of Probation by prosperity in deliverance and rest.
Under Othniel.
Under Barak.
Under Gideon.

3. 40 years of Probation by Prosperity that enlarged the dominion.
Under David.
Under Solomon.
Under Jeroboam II
Under Jehoash
Under Joash

4. 40 years of Probation by Humiliation and Servitude
Israel under the Philistines
Israel in the time of Eli
Israel under Saul

Moses spent 40 years in Egypt.
Moses spent 40 years in the desert.
Moses spent 40 years with Israel in the wilderness.

The spies sent into the land of Canaan were in the land for FORTY days (Numbers 13:18-20).

The reign of Saul was for...………………. 40 years.
The reigh of David was for...... ...…...…...40 years.

Goloiah defied Israel for …………………..40 days.

There is lots more but I do not like long posts but this was done to show that God is not HASTY in His judgments and gives all men plenty of time for a fait trial and time to confess and repent.

I believe that another way of understanding the message of Micah 5: 2 and Isaiah 9:6 is “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,” Ephesians 3:17-18 (NIV)

He loved us before the Creation was ever done.

"Washed (Loosed) us from our sins in His own blood"------------The blood of Jesus is not a symbol in the book of the Revelation. There are many symbolism in the book, but this is NOT one of them. ALL of the Old Testament sacrifices of animals, and all of the blood they shed was a shadow of what was coming. They were NOT the real thing...……..But the blood of Jesus IS THE REAL THING. It is what the animal sacrifice were pointing to all the way back to Adam and Eve when Jesus killed animals to obtain a covering for the sin of Adam and Eve.

"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot".

Jesus comes again as the BRIDEGROOM for His bride which is the company of born again believers. He comes as the lover of our spirits.

Jesus is the agent of creation. All things were made by Him, for Him and the universe exists for Him.

This past Saturday, the son and daughter-in-law wanted to stay home, have dinner, and spend the night walking. We talked to around 2am, which did not do much for my Sunday 7am wake-up call for church. One of our conversations, what total submission to God's will. I am afraid that I did not see a great job of explaining it.

When that topic comes again, use Genesis 4:1-7 as an example of obedience to God.

Abel and Cain came to the same spot at the same time but brought different offerings. They were told by their parents who got it straight from God about what an acceptable offering to God was. How do we know that is the case???? Because Abel brought the acceptable offering!!!!
But Cain brought a different offering.

WHY?

DISOBEDIENCE!

They were told but Cain did not obey. He brought what he wanted to bring and God rejected it. God rejected it because it was works from him and contained no sacrifice at all. That made Cain angry. God even gave him a 2nd chance but again he refused to obey.

The result was jealousy that fueled anger that led to murder. ALL because he disobeyed his parents.

I do not know if this was visible to you, but, last week, an Atlas 5 rocket was launched from the Cape. As I was driving to work, I saw the below and, for a moment, I must admit, I did not know what I was seeing and Revelations did cross my mind. I did not take the attached picture, but many people did pull off I-95 to watch. Tomorrow morning, I will be prepared to not "freak out," as it will be The Perseids meteor shower that will light up the early morning skies.

Major, must admit that I am inspired by your teachings here. I am about half-way through re-reading Proverbs, but I think I will put a pin on that and re-read Revelations. I have only read it once and that was a bit ago. I have learned quite a bit since then, so I am motivated by the possibility that my understanding will be greater this time around.

I saw the Northern Lights, but I didnt have to go all the way to the top of the arctic circle to see them. It was on a dvd.
They are amazing.

However to be there in person would have been an experience. I think thats why the land of Israel is so important even today and why revelation centers on Jerusalem and then the new Jerusalem coming down from Heaven. But am getting ahead of myself.

The Bible portrays Jerusalem as the most important city in the world, and in Scripture it is called the ‘City of God’.

The prophets spoke of the importance of Jerusalem at the end of days, when the eyes of the world would be focused on this city. This is already happening daily in the world’s media. Why? Because God declared that Jerusalem would be a problem for the nations of the world:


Zech. 12:2-3...…….
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.”

Keep your eyes on Jerusalem.

Yes. It is very symbolic.

I believe the Lord chose to render the Book of Revelation in symbols because He knew it was going to be read by 20 centuries of believers and had to be meaningful to all of them. For all that time people who were willing to apply themselves and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit have been able to figure it out.

Rev. 1:3 says,...….
" Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near."
 
Hello Major;

This is a good outline of your teaching.

In Revelation 1:1 Jesus was revealing to John the link to many events that will take place, but the important focus is Christ, His unconditional love, power and justice in Revelation. The world deceives our focus of Jesus coming back with trembling and fear instead of the hopes of God's plan for the end of the world.

The link to Revelation in Matthew 24:32-34 is when the fig tree blooms, a metaphor of all the events that will be fulfilled, yet not knowing when the Son of Man will return but how God will make obvious. In the meantime, stand firm and continue serving as the events take place.

The next link to Revelation in Daniel 9:23-27 is the 70 weeks which is interpreted as both the great Tribulation (in the future.) The times and numbers are still God's prophetic time clock as it must happen but as the same time we must remain firm in our faith that God's promises will remain to all who believe and serve Him.

In your teaching, I feel one of the keys of the second coming is if we know when Jesus is coming back, many would take advantage of the timing when to repent to God prior to the end.

I need to understand the Second Coming. I thought the true second coming was not until after the war of Armageddon and he set's up his thrown in the mount of olives? When Christ comes back to get his people, is that what everyone is calling the second coming? I am not trying to be argumentative, I am trying to understand as I heard that when Christ comes for his people it is just that, he is coming for his people, but the second coming is when he literally comes back and set's up his kingdom. Maybe I am wording all of this wrong, but I want to fully understand. I want to say I heard a theologian teach this.
