Revelation

I need to understand the Second Coming. I thought the true second coming was not until after the war of Armageddon and he set's up his thrown in the mount of olives? When Christ comes back to get his people, is that what everyone is calling the second coming? I am not trying to be argumentative, I am trying to understand as I heard that when Christ comes for his people it is just that, he is coming for his people, but the second coming is when he literally comes back and set's up his kingdom. Maybe I am wording all of this wrong, but I want to fully understand. I want to say I heard a theologian teach this.

I appreciate your question. It is a good one so do not feel shy or concerned about it.

Actually, according to the Scriptures as I understand them, Jesus comes back TWO more times. The very next time could be at any moment and it is called the "Harpazo" or in the English, The Rapture.

Because of the rules of the site we are not allow ed to go into any discussion on this event. However there is no rule against posting Scripture. You will find the Rapture in 1 Corth 15:51-54 and 1 Thess. 4:13-17. It is not so much if there is going to be a Rapture but the arguments come about on WHEN it will take place.

This event according to the Scriptures I posted for you, is when Jesus comes in the clouds but does not come to the earth physically. He removes the born again believers and then In MY personal opinion comes back at His 2nd Coming 7 years later at Armageddon and it is then that He comes to earth PHYSICALLY and stands on the Mt. of Olives fulfilling Zech. 14:1-2.

It is actually the 3rd phase of the 1st Resurrection.

If you would like to PM me I will be glad to discuss this with you privately.

Right now, I am knee deep in Revelations; almost to the point of an infatuation. I am going through it one line at a time. Almost everything is symbolic.

I took a class on Revelations from a theologian. He teaches line by line, which in my opinion, is the only and best way to do it. The class started big, and of course, became so small. They canceled the class and we only made it through around chapter 5 - 6. I was so disappointed. It's such a great book full of deep understanding that I could benefit from.

For the sake of research, I'll been looking around an interesting site on the subject: https://revelationofjesuschrist.wordpress.com/revelation-historical-timeline/

I agree.

I am NOT a "theologian". However, I have spent many years in the study of eschatology. If you think I can help you please ask me.

I am going to blame your keyboard.
Thank you. It is a semi evil keyboard. Since the N and the S are a little far away from each other, I might have to hake the hit for this one. Several years ago, I had to write a report on an incident that happened in Key West, in particular, a small island called "Duck" Island. Will not go into greater detail, but I suggest you look at your keyboard and to the immediate right of the letter D. Thank God that my pre-publishing review caught the 6 times I hit the wrong key.

Have a blessed week.

Paul talked about having revelations and visions. 2 corinthians 12:1

Note Paul did not write the book of Revelation, Jesus chose John to be his messenger.

There is much debate as to whether the rapture is pre tribulation, or post tribulation. It really doesn't matter much to me, as our salvation is key :)
Praise God in all his beautiful glory, great mercy, loving kindness, and for our salvation through his Son Jesus Christ~ Amen

Different churches teach different things as far as the book of Revelation is concerned. I like reading all views.

I think theres about four different views of revelation that Ive come across. I dont really hold dogmatically to either one. Some make more sense to me than others, but yea the important thing is Jesus bringing us salvation.

there IS a happy ending, Good ultimatley triumphs over evil is the main message of Revelation. Well thats what I got from it!

You are correct. My I say to you that the one discipline that allows for all the pieces to fit together perfectly is the "Pre-Tribulation Rapture".

The others all require some "fitting" and manipulation in order to work.

Revelation 1:8...…………..

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Here Christ proclaims Himself to be the Alpha and Omega.

Those are the 1st and last letters of the Greek alphabet.

So He is telling us that He is the beginning and the end. All things began with Him and all things will end with Him.
He - Christ is the agent/person of Creation. Jesus Christ is the one who created all things and all things were created for Him and by Him.

Then after this He says that He is the "ALMIGHTY". That is a name that is used in connection with the Father....48 times in the Old Testament. Christ and the Father are truly ONE in the same.
(John 10:38.....14:8-11 and 17:21).

Hi. I have a few ideas about Revelation that I think deserve an airing. I would like to start with a paper I wrote a few years back that identifies the first and second beasts of Revelation 13 as the Early Pagan Roman Empire and the Later Constantinian Roman Empire respectively. Please excuse the condition of the manuscript, it is a bit marked up.

Good afternoon Major
I haven't yet read all the postings/discussions on the forum concerning this wonderful book I'm just dropping a quick line to say, I LOVE this awesome Book and I take seriously Jesus' pronouncement Chapter 1:3

(NKJV) 'Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.'

(NIV) 'Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near'.

I believe the enemy has convinced many believers including some members of my own family, that Revelation is too confusing and complicated to understand and as a result many simply don't read/study it. Yet these are the Words of the Glorified Lord that reveals the end of all things including the final destiny of the Deceiver!!

Keep up the good work

I agree 100% with your comment.

Personally, I believe that way too many people who do not understand the book go out of their way to give their personal opinion rather than doing the required study to find the real message. But that is just MY opinion!

I am very aware of that teaching. However, I for one have to reject it as it is more an opinion than it is the literal Word of God.

IMO, the two beasts will be literal human beings controlled by Satan to do his will.

The 1st one in Rev. 13 is the Antichrist and the 2nd will be the False Prophet.

Consider 2 Thess. 2:8-9 for "context"...…….
"And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even HIM, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,"

"HIM" is the A/C and in the original Greek, the word is literally...….."MAN".

Consider Daniel. Every time a beast arises it represents a kingdom coming to supplant the one that came before. Biblical consistancy argues for a similar interpretive technique for Revelation. There is nothing in the text that supports the identification of the first beast as antichrist. The history of the distortions of the gospel introduced by the later Roman Empire more than justify the identification as the false prophet.

Let me make a concession to your position. Both the early and later Roman Empires were satanically inspired and controlled. They are archtypes for the two great weapons that Satan can use against the church when he controls the State, Oppression and Co-option.
