What I observe is that many seem to be babes in Christ. Because they are yet babes they are unable to partake of the meat of God's word and still are using the milk. It saddens me when I see those that have been Christian a long time and yet they are still babes in Christ.
Heb 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. (KJV)
When we gather together and are instructed, this should not be our primary meal of the week. Perhaps part of the floundering we see is that so many fail to give adequate time to talk and listen to God.
Heb 5:13-4 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (KJV)
Heb 6:1-2 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (KJV)
Paul was admonishing these Christians to mature and grow in the knowledge and understanding of this way of life. Perhaps in part today's problem is as much a matter of feeling that others are to blame and not taking seriously our part in Christian growth and our need to trust God in all things.
