DO You Believe That We Have A Guardian Angel Today

We see things the same way. As humans become older, because of the Curse, we actually become worse and worse. Hence, the desperate need to be reborn! Children may be less intelligent than adults, but they are certainly more "mature" in their thinking, for they are not so focused on themselves. Most, if not all, children pass through a stage of constantly Asking, Seeking, and Knocking. I was always wanting to learn from my father, but he would simply ignore me. I hated it because in my little heart I knew how desperately wrong he was to have done that to me (and anyone else).

Agreed.

When I was 16.....I knew that my mom and dad were the two dumbest people in the world.

When my children were 16, I realized just how smart they were.

Funny, but then...

John 21:18 (KJV) Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

And that is the perfect example of being educated beyound your intelligence! LOL!:LOL::LOL:

Most believe that angels (plural) do minister to believers, but the question posed is, "is ONE angel assigned to one believer (hence a guardian angel)?

Hebrews 1:14 (KJV) (speaking of angels). Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Some may argue that Heb 1:14 was the arrangement in the OT before the Holy Spirit dwelt each believer, thus replacing any need for a guardian angel.

note: 'ministering spirits' in Hebrews is in context of ministering God's Word.

Hebrews 2:1-4 (KJV) Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

Now....notice the words of Hebrews 1:14.............."sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?"

Now then.....Hebrews was written to HEBREWS (Jews) who were once believers but wanted to return to the rituals and beliefs of Jusaism and one of those beliefs was ANGELS.

Context.......of Hebrews 1:14=
Hebrews 1:7 says..............
"And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire."

That is a quote from Psalms 104:4. The angels belong to God. They are His ministers and worshippers.
The writer of Hebrews is using the Old Test. to show those Jewish believers that Jesus Christ is superior to the angels and is using the Old Test. Scriptures to prove it to that group of people.

We all need to understand that ANGELS were very, very important to the Hebrews. They thought that angels were as next to God at the very throne of the Father.

So then......we come to 1:14............and right away we will see and say that see........right there it says we have guardian angels assigned to us.

However..........does it really say that????? It says........."for them who shall be heirs of salvation?"

I believe and understand this to mean that it is looking forward to the end of time when God turns His attention once again to the nation of Israel AFTER the Holy Spirit is removed from the earth and He deals with them. Angels will THEN be MINISTERING SPIRITS to the heirs of salvation.

I've looked at this thread a few times in interest. I suspect we have guardian angels, but I don't know for certain. I know for certain that I've received lots of heavenly help and I can imagine that there are angels doing their jobs providing that assistance as needed. Assuming angels are helping us, it'll be wonderful to know all the times there was heavenly intervention in our lives. We may be aware of many such occasions, but there are probably thousands more where we didn't even realize we were getting help. God could do it all himself but I imagine he has his angels keeping busy doing chores such as helping us...

TT...........does you think that maybe that assistance/help/advice was from the Holy Spirit?????

You see, when Jesus assended to heaven He said I will not leave you alone...I will send the "Comforter" to help you and guide you.

Do you have any thought why He said "Comforter" which in the Greek means......ONE JUST LIKE ME, and did not say ........
I will send you an angel to help you????

Yes, we certainly need to grasp the word Endure.

You're one day closer to the most unbelievable and permanent vacation imaginable. I can't wait!

Yep.

One Sunday in the worship service, the preacher began to shout......If you want to go to heaven, shout Amen!
The whole church raised their hands except one elderly man on the back row.

The Preacher, a little disturbed sais...................... ...................If you want to go to heaven raise your hands. stand up!
Everyone did that except that elderly man.

The preacher, now really upset shouted,...................................................................If you want to go to heaven stand up!.
Everyone stood up except The man who just sat there.

Now the preacher pointed at the man and asked him in a loud voice.....Do you not want to go to heaven?????????

The man said YES.......But I thought you were getting up a bus load for today!

My responce was to the post about "little ones" meaning children.

I asked......."Does Little Ones actually mean Children.

Then I posted in #43.........
"So then, it seems that the phrase “little ones” does not refer to children but to “Jesus disciples” the ones that believe in him. Therefore, Jesus did not mean that children or individuals have a guardian angel, but that angels show interest in his disciples."
I understood, just a difference of opinion on a non essential.

I would say they are Jewish believers whose faith was waning due to the present persecution.
Could you comment on my comment about the angels mainly being 'ministers' of the Word? Heb 2:1-4

Certainly brother. Anything for you and it is an honor to be asked.

Hebrews 2:1-4.........
"Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?"

"Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard," would go back to chapter 1:1-2........

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;".

This was spoken of to the APOSTLES because we read in Hebrews 2:3........
" which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;:.

Because what Jesus said was superior to the Old Test. prophets AND Angels, and came from Jesus who is superior to angels, we are to pay particular attention to what HE says.

So then.....when the 2 angels came to Sodom and said to that city that it would be destroyed, Sodom WAS destroyed just as they said it would be = "The word spoken by angels was stedfast".

The word spoken also speaks to the Law of God. Galatians 3:19 says.........
"Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator."

What ever an angel said....was direct from God and therefore it was STEDFAST = TRUE.

Since the writer was speaking to Hebrews and what he said about them was true in their understanding, THEN whatever Jesus said was more important that what any angel said based on the fact that Jesus created the angels.

It's quite possible, that's why I left my thoughts open to help directly from God.

If you had a choice.....who would you rather have help from.....an Angle or God???

I'm fine with either as either ultimately is from God. The angel would just be serving our God. Now there is support that our Comforter provides that an angel is not equipped to but that's not the topic of this thread.

...And does it matter if said angle were acute, right or obtuse?
or,
Do angels have angles?

Back on point:

If an angel is ministering to one, isn't he doing that in God's name? Could the angel be the method God chooses to aid one?

I suppose that it could be. Could it also be that a "ministering spirit" could be a demonic spirit??

Could it also be that it is the Holy Spirit that aids us?

Do you think that when the sin nature part of us begins to believe that an angel is responsible for us, then that will ultimately lead to "Angel Worship".

I believe that we as Christians should be obsessed with the Lord Jesus and it seems to me that accepting the idea of a guardian angel would take that away.

As I have stated, I do not know and this is just a personal opinion on my part.
