Must one Hold to the trinity to be saved?

Amen!

but isn't it interesting how a Doctrine that uses definitions and terms not found in God's Word, has not only become a modern day truth, but a platform to slam other idealism's?

Hello GodisSpirit;

Amen to that! It's been going on since Jesus' missions and before that. In John 6:59-71 His disciples grumbled, "who can listen to this," turned back and no longer walked with Him.

I have experienced how ambiguity and semantics in Christian fellowship and discussion broke down the fellowship and led many to walk away from their faith.

This is why newly formed and growing relationships in Christ is so vital. We learn to discern our brothers and sisters, and though we may not agree with terms like Holy Ghost vs Holy Spirit, not everyone is going to use the same lingo as me. I've been dealing with this for years. YIKES!

But we can strive for discernment and common ground in our fellowship that reconciles understanding and agreement of what the Scriptures are saying, what the Scriptures are saying to us individually as we press on in our faith.

I wish we could have coffee over this. lol!

Thank you for sharing with me.

where is the word Person in the Bible located at. where does it say the Father is a Person in the Bible? where does it say the Holy Spirit is a Person in the Bible? But yes, the One True God = Father-WORD (Son)-Holy Spirit!
The word "person" is there because the three relate to each other as persons: they have emotions, they are either given or sent by the Father, etc.

No, God can't be manifstations. The members of the Godhead speak to one another(Jesus spoke to and prayed to His Father), God gave His only begotten Son, the Holy Spirit was sent.

Jesus did His Father's will (prayer in Gethsemane), when on the cross Jesus asked the Father to forgive them. John 1:1 The Word was God and the Word was with God. The Sons sits with the Father. (Rev.3: 21).
which is quite interesting when we read John 14:
8 Philip said to Him, “Master, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
9 Yeshua said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time, and you haven’t come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own; but the Father dwelling in Me does His works.
^
The Father dwells inside Jesus and doing the Talking and the Works.

then we have Jesus performed a miracle in Matthew 12 (cast out Demons) and the Pharisees said Jesus did them by Satan and Jesus said by the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 12:28 But if I drive out demons by the Ruach Elohim, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
^
so Jesus is saying the Works is from the Holy Spirit.

you can see how someone can believe as they do when you add the Words spoken and the Works done are told to us done by the Father in John 14 and the Holy Spirit in Matthew 12. plus, Jesus told us this is how He did them.

here does it say the Holy Spirit is a Person in the Bible?
Maybe it does not specifically say 'person' but this verse alludes to that fact...

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
(Act 5:3)

Otherwise, do we say Ananias and Sapphira lied to a 'thing' or an 'it'? (btw The Holy Spirit is called God in vs. 4)

clearly however God chooses to deal with us it is always going be 100% God when speaking about the Father-WORD-Holy Spirit. From an Audible Voice, to a Dove, to a Cloud by day and Fire by night or Burning Bush, to as 1 Timothy 3:16 puts it [God was manifest in the flesh]. we know God can be Manifested and we know God is a Spirit because Jesus says so, and we know God has personable traits. myself, i just use what i read verbatim.

this would be for another thread, but i love what we know here.
we go back a couple Chapters and the Holy Spirit filled those in the Upper Room.
now we see the Gifts in full action.
Discernment is very much on display in Acts 5:3 and why Peter knows they have lied.
so much we can learn from the Book of Acts. it's a shame that modern churches don't resemble the first Church any more.

Hello, GodisSpirit;

What does God say to your heart regarding the Trinity and what must one hold to be saved? How did you witness this to believers or non-believers?

God bless you, brother.

God is Elohim and Elohim is Father-Word-Holy Spirit.
i avoid trinity to new converts or possible new converts because unless you explain it precisely you could scare people away. most people i talk to have already dealt with some telling them you better believe 3 Persons or go to hell. well, unfortunately, some just rather go to hell after that. i just concentrate on God manifesting Himself into flesh to die for our sins because He loves us that much.

Right, and we know all that as it is revealed in God's written Word.

Jesus said God is a Spirit!

I believe Jesus over man's Doctrinal definition.
Of course, God is a Spirit. The Trinity isn't three human beings. The word Person isn't referring to three human beings.

Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

I believe Jesus, too.

I believe the Bible is God-breathed, not some fiction written by man.

Not every believing Christian is educated to the degree we'd like. Those who want hell because of what one persons says did not want God in the first place.

Without the Spirit of God:

1.We don't belong to Him.
2. We can't understand spiritual things.

An unbeliever is content to scoff at God because of what another person says. That's just an excuse.

Do you think you are superior to others? I'm only asking because you sound like you're bragging. I have my own prejudices: I don't like for people to be threatened by hell, but I believe hell exists and that salvation is only found through faith in Christ. So if someone doesn't present the Gospel the way I do, I'm not going to judge that person. I'm not going to correct someone who at least believes God is three-in-one. The Bible does preach a Triune God --- a Trinity.

Do you believe Jesus is God? If not, will you prove to us that He is not God?
Jesus is Melchizedek, the burning bush, the cloud for Moses by day and Fire by night, the 4th man with Shadrach-Meshach-Abednego, Jesus wrestled Jacob, allowed Joshua to fleece Him, the Tree of Life in the Garden, the Creator, God manifested in the flesh, the WORD, the Son, the Ark, our High Priest, our Mediator, God on the Throne in Revelation 1:14-15, Alpha and Omega, Beginning and the End, image of the invisible God, Express Image of the Father, the LORD who reigned down fire and brimstone on S&G, and so much more from Genesis to Revelation. YES He is GOD!

well i feel confidant in being able to explain how God is the Father-Son-Holy Spirit, but whether people already wanted to deny God does not help when someone bashes them over the head on how they should be before they ever have a chance to believe.

Personally, we know once someone is filled with the Holy Spirit, they will change on their own as the Spirit guides them. so i never tell someone you gotta change or stop doing this and that. God will instruct them and we will see the change in time. but some Believers treat the lost like a dog going through potty training. and people will either get discouraged or rebel. my job is only to introduce them to Christ, God will do the rest from there. and if they happen to seek my advice, then i offer it.

here is something Jesus and the Holy Spirit have in Common outside being labeled as God.

John 14:
16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you [another Comforter] so He may be with you forever
17 the Spirit of truth

but notice this portion ([another Comforter])
Jesus was a Comforter that came in the Body and the Holy Spirit is also a Comforter that comes in the Spirit.
