An Original Cartoon A Day

I often write letters to acquaintances, friends, virtual friends, and relatives with usually about one illustration per page. Once a work is done, it no longer belongs to me, but I thought I could share them with my virtual online friends.

Good morning, Davey Do;

I was revisiting your cartoons, kind of like walking in an art museum, and began to think of the days when I spent hours writing alot of lyrics, composing the music on my guitar to form a song.

It's been well over 25 years since I recorded a CD and all the proceeds went to 3rd world countries. The last time I picked up my guitar to help lead praise and worship was in 2022.

I can't explain it but I haven't had the itch to play nor do I miss it. For now both my guitars are put away in my room. I think maybe it's like artist or writer's block. Question is, will it come back to me?

God bless
you, Dave.

Bob

Thank you for your post bobinfaith and for looking at my art as if in a museum

I can identify with you on the guitar playing, for I played for nearly 35 years almost on a daily basis yet rarely pick it up. nowadays. I was never very good at it, and after my Dad, who was very good at both playing and singing, died, I lost the desire. I now do my Analog Art constantly.

It's really cool that you burned CDs and were good enough to raise funds for 3rd world countries. VERY Christian in not hiding your light under a bushel.

As far as "will it come back", I don't know what to tell you. I have feverously been into things like softball, guitar playing, working out, auto-mechanics, and bicycling for years and the *poof!* the desire was gone. I continue to dabble in those interest, but not nearly to the extent as I once did. Perhaps it's because of my age, being retired and less stress of being employed, or once I did, it I was satisfied and moved on, or what have you.

As is said in Ecclesiastes 3, "There is a time for everything", so maybe our time to do those things is past. On the same order, Seneca said, "The fates lead him who will, and him who won't, they drag".

My time is spent in reflection and doing art. However, new opportunities are always rearing their heads, so life continues to have flavor and spice.

Thanks again, Bob!

OUTSTANDING & ENDEARING, In Awe of Him!

Second Cosia's comment: He is very cute! Also, the soft lines make him seem fuzzy & huggable.

It has been said that artists and cartoonists often knowingly or unknowingly put themselves into their works, in that their characters are manifestations of aspects of our personality.

Fo you think of yourself as being cute and fuzzy, In Awe of Him?

This was inspired by an actual conversation:

Davey Do ... I took out my pastels and they were too waxy... I kind of figured that when I bought them at the Dollar store.

Anyways.... my morning offering. The next thing I need to try are my acrylic paints... but they are not as forgiving as watercolour so...
it might be a disaster. HAHA.

The CAT will always think of ONLY themselves as they are the SUPERIOR RACE. HAHAHA.

It is so good you're playing around with different media, In Awe of Him, for it's one of my favorite things to do, and that is to experiment.

Take, for example, your waxy pastels, in that I found that if I applied them in general manner to the page and then went over them with a liquid medium-like acrylic, watercolor, or ink- they took on a new effect.

Here's an example from a past homemade cardstock journal where many different medias, including wax pastels, ink, pen, ink stamp, and typewritten words were used to express an irritable state:

And remember this, In Awe of Him, disasters often result in discoveries, for there are no mistakes when it comes to art.

Davey Do ... I threw my pastels in the garbage... HONESTLY... they were like very hard crayons... I have enough other mediums to play with. I am quite enjoying my little sketches that I take from Pinterest. The donkey I created turned out pretty good. I am unable to simply draw from my head. I have to look at something and try to copy it. Anyways... this is a HUGE win for me because I am FINALLY starting to use my supplies.... thanks to you.

Oh, In Awe of Him, I never THROW AWAY art media unless they're totally unusable, like dried up acrylic paint....

No, wait a minute.... I've used dried up acrylic paint, gluing the blob on something else for a sculpture,

I never throw away any art media. I've obtained some media which have set on my shelf for YEARS, and then all of a sudden, it's used. For example, the handmade antique manuscript journal which I did a lot of my "Biblically Inspired Art" Belinda gifted to me two Christmases ago. Until then, it sat on a shelf, gathering dust awaiting its calling. There are many more examples, but for now...

The garbage truck just went by.... it's freezing cold outside.... we have so much snow... I just don't know.... but...
if it makes you feel better.... I only paid 1.25 for a 6 pack of oil pastels... which were more like a really really bad crayon.

I do however promise you.... Mr. Davey Do.... that I shall NEVER dispose of an art supply EVER again. HOWEVER.... I will ensure to buy a better quality. HAHA.

Davey Do .... I could hear YOU saying this to me....

I am assuming that you writing with LARGE print is your way of being gently sarcastic View attachment 12377??? HAHAHA....View attachment 12378 I will add this TWIN print all for the price of ONE. :D
NO tariffs.... and perhaps even a HUGE discount.

and if you ACT within the next 10 minutes... I will throw in 3 peanut butter cups. and two fizzy drinks. HA.

Hello, In Awe of Him;

No, no, no. Sarcasm is rude's cousin. The large font is my way of being impressed with those simple cartoon drawings, so simple, pure and happy.
🤗

God bless you, sister.

Bob
