Yes you are right, cos it was not even in church..it was to show God. Philip was the witness to it.
It was also for remission of sins.

So I would say both, but sometimes teaching in church has made out like it only counts if its accrording to a certain doctrine.

I dont think ppl are dismissing those scriptures....

No, baptism is not FOR (in order to provide) remission of sins, but for (because of ) the fact that remission has taken place.
