Contradictions In The Bible???

I believe the Bible is truth through faith; I believe that Jesus Christ is a real person-the Living Son of the Living God. We are living in a time of Faith; the time of grand miracles, judges and prophets and priests passed away at the Rejection of Jesus Christ by the Jews.

I believe that although we are currently separated from God, we will be reunited in 'eternity'/ the life after this one. We were created with free will so that we could decide whether or not we wanted to follow God. God is not the God of force-although He does have the Power to do what He wills.

I believe because when I realized I was sinner separated from God; I needed a Savior. I realized I was unworthy and nothing I could do would ever get me a ticket into heaven. Then I heard the Gospel with open ears at age 30 and realized that the 'Gospel' -the Good News was that the price was already paid and a loving God was reaching down to me through His Son. All I had to do was accept it-so I did.

And in my heart something changed; I had a desire to learn about the God I thought I knew as the Old Testament ogre. When I realized that our God is Holy, and cannot be part of Sin-this is the cause of separation. But It was His desire from the beginning to give His creation life and liberty.

I used to think what the world told me was truth; but when truth reached my heart my eyes were open to the deception around me. There is a better way to live. It is through Christ, it is seeing the True God in the Bible.

I don't claim to understand it all; but I know one thing-Jesus Christ-Our God in Flesh-is the way, the truth, and the life as He said.
I used to say that exact same thing to other people, but I did not really believe it. For me jesus was a way to escape the fear, pain and the guilt I felt about my life, always waiting to be transformed but only trying to transform everyone else. I became worse and worse the more I pushed myself to believe untill I realised something is seriously wrong with what I believe and now I am here as I am.

Is there unconfessed / unrepentant sin in your life? Have you set up stumbling blocks/ idols betwixt you and the Lord?

Sometimes we don't see the forest though the trees. There are days (sometimes weeks-maybe months) where I feel like it is too hard-not worth it. Then I look at the state of the world and remember we are walking among thorns. I could sell myself out for 6 figure job-I have before. But that would take me away from my daughter.

God didn't promise us an easy life-actually quite the opposite living as true Christians. He told us we would be persecuted. And in reality, we have yet to really taste what persecution is in the USA-but it is coming. God's mercy is longsuffering- but how long will he turn a blind eye to our sin?

God's people-the Church-needs to get right, repent as a whole and quit 'chasing the dragon'.

Rev3, I'm glad to see you didn't shut up, again I apologize for my harshness.

If you don't mind may I reiterate what Brother Mike has said?

In simple form the Gospel or Good News as it is called is; I'm a sinner on my way to Hell, Jesus was crucified in my place (according to the Scriptures) for my sins, past, present and future, He was buried and on the third day He arose from the dead (according to Scriptures), ...now what does that mean, picture yourself in a court room, you have been declared guilty by the judge, sentenced to death, and someone takes your sentence on themselves and die in your place, and you are allowed to go free, that's what Jesus did for us, how do we know it worked, because the Heavenly Father allowed Jesus to come back to life (since He was God and God can't die).

Now this is where you have the choice, you can accept what Jesus did for you or you can refuse, God won't/doesn't force anyone to come to Him.

So, if you accept what Jesus did for you, sincerely in your heart, then you need to pray a prayer asking Jesus to forgive you and in faith receive Him into your heart, ...please reread the verses Brother Mike has listed above, is there one that sort of jumps off of the page, that really speaks to your heart, that convicts you in your heart that it is true and you are a sinner, ...that the Gospel is true, that you need Jesus?

Yeah I have confessed all my sins and asked jesus into my heart many many times. Do you think if I do it again things will be diffrent.

Being born again only happens once.

Most people have questions about why or what has to be born again, so let's look at the story in Genesis, ...God formed Adam from dust and it says He breather into his nostrils and he became a living soul. Ge 2:7 We are also told man was made in the image of God and since God exists in three person, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, so man has three components, spirit, soul, body, Adam communicated with God through his spirit, which guided and directed his soul and they were living inside of a body, God said the day you eat of the forbidden tree you will surely die, but we read Adam live 930 years, his soul is immortal so when Adam sinned what died was his spirit, or his ability to communicate directly with God. Thus the signification of Jesus saying you must be born again (our spirit) to see and to enter in to the Kingdom of God.

Now let's look at how Peter describes being born again so it will be clear to you, 1 Pet 1:23.

Peter says we are born again by incorruptible seed and the Word of God, the incorruptible seed is a reference to the Holy Spirit (sperm) and the Word of God is the verse used by the Holy Spirit to birth you, the ovum so to speak, so just like your first birth you know who your father and mother are and will know the day you were born, so it is with being born again, for Peter the Father was the Holy Spirit and the verse was Isa 40:6-8 that's why he cited it in verse 24, Peter doesn't tell us the day, but some Bible scholars believe it was Luke 5:8 (but he wasn't born again like we are because it was a transitional period and the Holy Spirit couldn't be given to the Church because Jesus hadn't rose from the dead yet). So you should know what verse the Holy Spirit used to illuminate your spirit to show you you were a sinner in need of salvation and if you received Jesus you will know when it happened and also there was a complete turn around in your behavior, (what we call repentance, a military term, "about face," that means to walk in the opposite direction).

So let's confirm these facts before we proceed further, ...now remember, satan is called the accuser of the brethren and I have a suspicion he has been tormenting you with doubt, also remember God loves you and He is working in your life or you wouldn't be here asking these question and God finishes what He starts.

Blessings,

Gene

I'm not sure that there is too much that is good about people. The Bible paints a pretty bleak picture of what we are without the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 3:9-12;

for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

It is only by faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that we can be accounted righteous before God. Romans 4:3,22-25;

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

So, the only righteousness that we have is that which is imputed to us through Christ. If a man is in Christ, e stands before God in Christ's perfect righteousness. If he is not in Christ, he can only stand in the filthy rags of his own sins. Isaiah 64:6;

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

I was like most other christians thinking no one was good by themselfs, but now I choose to believe that there is good in everyone even if its only a mustard seed.

Ask yourself this question, "would I still want to have charity even if I was never told that I had to"

You need to look closer at the ''good'' in others. It can all be traced back to selfishness. Charity is for your selfish desire to feel good / appear good / calm conscience. Scripture is quite clear that there is nothing good in us before Christ Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

Then you have to acknowledge that if someone was truly good / unselfish, why are they not Christian? If you love unselfishness (true goodness) you will respect and accept the King of it. Psalms 44:20-21 If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god, 21 would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart?

You expect me to believe that people only do good things when they believe in jesus. That non believing people like my daughters foster parents adopted her because they are just selfish.

You make me cry.

Um....I don't know any one that became a Christian because they loved unselfishness....or thought themselves truly good....Just the opposite.
You don't know anyone that became a Christian because they approved of what Jesus did and taught? Liking un-selfishness and trying to do unselfish acts are en route to becoming a Christian. Being able to do them, is a seperate issue. I think you misread my post? :confused:.

If there was any goodness in us the Holy Spirit would seek it out and be revealing Jesus to us. Simple lateral thought if you believe God is omniscient / omnipresent or just take Psalms 44:21 as is.

Do the math. IF your daughters foster parents were TRULY unselfish / good, why have they NOT accepted Jesus? They havn't heard? The Holy Spirit isn't here? They don't have television / radio / newspaper?

Even many Christians... if they judged themselves harshly would have a hard time convincing themselves / others that their actions are truly un-selfish. Our un-selfish intents are in our hearts and only God knows them.

Perhaps I misread it or you wrote it oddly for me.
I know of no one who became a Christian because THEY were unselfish or loved unselfishness: I know folks who became Christians because they saw how utterly self-centered an evil they were.
Yes, I agree. Must be my wording as hating as you say ''self-centered and evil '' is loving the opposite...unselfishness, surely?

It doesn't really matter if there is good in everything. I think there is. We all have the potential for great good and great evil. Even the most wicked person will produce good actions more often than evil actions.

The important thing isn't that there might be good in everyone, it is that no amount of good within a person is enough. A mustard seed of wickedness is enough that we still need Christ. Without Christ, nobody will see Heaven no matter how "good" they are because they will still have evil within them, and a Holy God cannot abide in sin and still be a Holy God. That is true no matter how we interpret the Bible, whether it is read as God-penned, or read as God-Inspired, Christ is always the answer. Salvation is assured once you are able to accept Christ, not as a legend, but as a Savior who died for your sins.

Luke 6:43-45 No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. 45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

I used to believe that, but I am starting to see theres more good about people if you just look.

Romans 3:10 says.....
"As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one"

Psalms 14:3 tells us....
"They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy, there is none that doetg good, nom not one".

These verses constitute what the Scriptures call "Universal Guilt". We are all born with the sin nature and it stays with us until we die.

Romans 3:23 tells us that.......
"ALL have sinned and come short of the approval of God".

That is Universal and applies to every single person in humanity. Because that is true, we then know what Romans 6:23 says.......
"The ages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in the Lord Jesus".

I now understand where some ofyour comments are coming from but I must also tell you that Being GOOD does not make us acceptable God. The only thing that allows us to be saved from the judgemnt that is coming is to allow the Lord Jesus Christ to pay for our sin in our place.

It should be very clear that sin is the problem of your life just as it is in my life. Not only is it destroying your own life, but it is offensive to the God who made you. Come to the Lord with a broken heart knowing you're a sinner and knowing you need his mercy and grace. If you humbly come to the saviour trusting only the sacrifice he made for your soul on the cross at calvary, the bible says he will save you that very moment, the blood will be applied to your soul and the Holy Spirit will take up residence within you. The Lord has changed many lives for now and eternity, and the scriptures promise that he can do the same for you.

Romans 10:13 says..........
"Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"!!!

Morning Rev3,

No offense meant, but I see you haven't answered my question, the reason I have asked it is Christianity, unlike all the other religions, IS NOT a blind faith, knowing how and when you were born again is foundational in building your faith in your walk with the Lord, "the just live by faith," it's a part of the armor Paul is talking about in Eph 6, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, this truth, this knowledge of how and when is not only a protection from the fiery darts that come into our minds, but using the example Jesus gave us when He was tempted by quoting Scripture, gives us a offensive weapon of quoting back at the devil the Truth of our regeneration, James says "resist the devil and he will flee," we do that with quoting Scriptures the Holy Spirit has given us (the life verses I refereed to earlier).

So don't let the devil scare you if you don't know what verse, if you can't say when you were born again, you wouldn't be here if God wasn't calling you, on the other hand you say you have asked Jesus to forgive you many times, if you are truly born again then asked Father to show you what verse He used and when, I wasn't taught this teaching for several years after I was born again and He was faithful to show me.

Now, your statement about goodness the size of a grain of mustard seed in everyone, that question was put in your mind by the enemy to turn you away from the Truth, he always misquotes Scripture, the verse is talking about "faith" the size of a grain of mustard seed, the enemy has taken Scripture and added Eastern Mysticism to it, it's the ying and the yang that teaches there is a little light in darkness and a little darkness in light, ..."you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free," so don't be amazed that he is using you, we see he used Peter too, so please, let's get back to the subject of you immortal soul, I know there are many here praying for you, ...today is the day of salvation.

Blessings,

Gene

Well to answer your question, because they are good people and they didnt just adopt my daughter but many children. Besides this I can prove my daughters foster parents love my daughter, first because they took care of her and still do and second because my daughter made them her legal parents this year. You think any of that would happen if there motives were selfish. But don't get me wrong I am not saying that I think people are incapable of evil, I am saying they are capable of both without any external arm twisting.

You expect me to believe that people only do good things when they believe in jesus. That non believing people like my daughters foster parents adopted her because they are just selfish.

You make me cry.

Of course, people can do 'good' things that benefit others, but that doesn't alter the fact that man is a fallen sinful being. No one would argue that a serial killer is 'good' because he may have once helped a little old lady across the road. Do you see where I am coming from?

Yeah I got side tracked, well since I have done all I can do in my weakness then the rest is up to heavenly father to do in his strength.

Then the serial killer can do good if he chooses, so therefore everyone is capable of doing good no matter how bad they are.
