POLITICS HAS REPLACED THE CHURCH!

Hm. I just took a short test on political ideology, and it claims I am a Progressive. I self-assessed as a Moderate. The matrix looks like I am a Progressive leaning towards Moderate. I think what got me was the opinion that the government should be responsible for providing health care and be involved in the retirement game. I have private healthcare and manage my own retirement but was focused on those that do not.
 
I was just thinking about the ownership and control of the world's governments, so I thought I'd check the Bible.

Once more the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms in the world and their glory. The devil said to him, "I will give you all this if you will bow down and worship me." Jesus said to him, "Go away, Satan! Scripture says, 'Worship the Lord your God and serve only him." (Matthew 4:8-10 God's Word Translation)

Notice the reply Jesus gave to Satan. He did NOT tell Satan that he didn't have the right to give away those kingdoms because God owned them. No, he tacitly acknowledged Satan’s ownership. Thus, the devil owns all the world's governments, including any democracies. So we know that, in the end, no good can come of them. In fact, these governments will be the ones placing in power the Antichrist. We should only expect the worst, most anti-Christian behavior and policies from such human governments.

Unless younger Americans fulfill at least six months of service in the military or as a first responder — or pass the same citizenship test administered to those seeking to become naturalized citizens.

IMHO, the absence of national pride is a serious threat to the future of our country and this kind of action can create a sense of shared purpose and responsibility amongst young Americans to become educated citizens, because they simply are not getting that in school anymore.

May I say that the "Critical Race Theory (CRT) was once an abstruse theory developed in American law schools. However it was the one SEED CORE began the modern-day WOKEISM.

That leads to Liberalism, then Progressives then comes Socialism which ends in Communism!

If anyone thinks that Communism is the answer, look at what happened to Russia.

Major, you made it sound like Huckabee, Pence and Desantis were in Alabama and passed this law. Way too confusing listing those guys and then quoting something else.

I am unfamiliar as to what type of civics teachings students go through now, but I think it is a bit unrealistic that we spend the time and money needed to train people to be soldiers or first responders for a six-month commitment. I am also not sure that this would result in a significant level of national pride.

It is practically impossible to sing with one voice in a country with so manny conflicting opinons and values.

There is an example to look at to appraise this idea that military or civic service alone engenders cohesive political and spiritual ideals.

In Israel, 1 to 2 years of service is mandatory for 18 year old males and females.

Israel also has a state religion and it is a democrat state with a relatively cohesive population under pressure from multiple outside sources.

If you have been following the news in Israel they are experiencing extreme social, political and religious divisions at this time. Of course Israel’s situation is not perfectly analogous, but it is similar enough to give food for thought.

Perhaps religious and political cohesiveness in a country comes back to societal factors that don’t have simple answers.

I disagree!

A 6 month commitment in military training would enlighten, educate people in respect and discipline. Courses could be included in Civics and Us history as it seems to be lacking in modern high schools today.

That kind of education just may bring the country into a more moral system of focused values.

Wait... you first said military service and now it's military training. Not sure I want to see an entire country full of people that have been trained in combat operations.

As a retired professional soldier who served both during the years of conscription and the period of all-volunteer service, I disagree with conscripting anyone. The military doesn't need whiners, complainers, and trouble makers who were dragged kicking and screaming into uniform. They are bad for morale, unit cohesion, and ultimately combat performance. A professional all-volunteer force is the most effective means of preserving national security. If the draft were reinstated, we'd better be prepared to expand the military prisons at Leavenworth and Portsmouth.
