Ok.... so the question for the day..... Whipped or Traditional Shortbread??

Personally I love the whipped.... and honestly... I have not made the other... because it involves rolling the cookie dough in
saran wrap... chilling and then cutting in slices. I think these are also called Icebox cookies... but don't quote me on that because
I did not look it up.

Do you like shortbread cookies and if so... Which do you prefer... the whipped or traditional??

Cosia .... whipped short bread is a lighter cookie... they literally melt in your mouth... you beat the butter with a mixer on high speed until it's light and fluffy... the recipe I usually use has one part corn starch and one part all purpose flour and the sweetener is powdered sugar... not white sugar.

The other type... ( traditional shortbread ) is more chewy... and does not melt in your mouth as quickly as the whipped ones.

Good morning, In Awe of Him;

I prefer the traditional. It takes more work but it's worth it especially when you mail a dozen to California. I promise I'll take good care of it!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA and still HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I think I am going to have to make both this year and see what I think. I really have not eaten the traditional ones that I can remember.... so when I think of shortbread... it's always the whipped. I will let you know after I make them.

Since I am staying home for Christmas this year and NOT going to Margaret's... I will be enjoying a nice home cooked meal and Christmas Day I will treat myself to some sweets.

bobinfaith... I usually put a maraschino ( who knew it was spelled like that??? HA... I had to look it up )
cherry on top.... Do the ones you are used to have cherries or any kind of nuts in them or plain?

Today's kitchen conundrum..... Ginger bread cookies or NOPE??? For me it's NOPE.... they are hard and I don't like the taste of them..... WHAT a GRINCH!!!! HAHAHA..... and as for the gingerbread houses.... also a NOPE... I don't have the patience for such things.... HAHAHA.

Now if you are talking gingerbread LOAF.... then I'm all in. HA.

Happy December 2nd.... OH my goodness... I have a feeling the month is going to zoom by.

Margaret will be home later today... and thankfully the highway she needs to take is open... .the other highway
that leads to my city is CLOSED due to very heavy snow fall. One town had to declare a state of Emergency and some people got stranded in their cars for 30+ hours. We got walloped.

Good morning, In Awe of Him;

I remember when one could buy an actual gingerbread house but I can't find those anymore. I'm sure someone still sells them. So retail stores like Target have them but you have to assemble a bunch of cookies, gumdrops and the works to enjoy the house.

My 7 year old niece thought they were cool as long as I did all the work. lol!

I love gingerbread but I don't want to do the work just to enjoy them.

God bless
you and Merry Christmas.

bobinfaith ... Here in Canada where we can't seem to handle the snow very well... and we need to call states of EMERGENCY...
we have to make our own little houses. I have seen some houses PRE-MADE but that is to encourage those buying the kits.
I have never tried to make one myself... I really don't have the mathematical skills to put slabs of cookies together... the thought of it
makes me shaky.... HAHAHA.

I hung a string of lights on a bamboo pole and thought I was going to have an anxiety melt down. HAHAHA.

HAHAHAHAHAHA..... How can you loaf without dough?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I get paid a dollar and a half for loafing. HAHAHAHAHA... and still HAHAHAHA.

Well.... It's December 3rd ALREADY.... Oh my goodness... the time is just flying by.
Louie is gone and it's QUIET here.

I am thinking of putting this beautiful moose "art" piece beside the front door of the cabin.
Mr. Moose is gonna love this!!!!!! ( and if Mr. Moose loves it.... that means Connie will love it too ).

Ok.... so... today's kitchen question.... the dreaded Christmas cake debate.... This topic seems to
be a passionate one. HA. So.... here we go..... Do you eat it?? or do you use it as a door stop? HAHA

I have never made it because it's really expensive with all that dried fruit... but I do enjoy a good quality
Christmas cake.... with a nice almond icing... and I especially love those silver balls on top.

I got me one in the back shed from 1974 that makes a good paper weight for my stack of Bass Pro Shop catalogs.

I also got me one from 1969 in my garage being used as a wheel stop for one of the trucks when I change a flat tire.

Them 'Fruitcakes' get better with age. The flies don't even land on 'em anymore after a couple years.

The wife's got one from 1981 on her sewing table that she uses as a pin cushion.

By brother in law, Bubba, uses 4 tied together, from the 1950's, as a boat anchor when he's out fishin'.

Y'all can use fairly fresh ones as firewood in the stove 'cause the flammable rum inside ain't evaporated yet.

Somebody mentioned that y'all can also eat them things, but then ya can't use 'em for anything else.
