Outside the New Jerusalem

If our mansions are inside the city and is also our dwelling places, John 14:2.
then what will we be doing outside the city on the rest of the New Earth?

Where ever we believers will be:
We will be praising God.
We will be doing whatever tasks/activities glorify Him.

Though we have a house in the city, we're busy doing God's work:

Revelation 1:6 (KJV)
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

What do priests and kings do? They work serving and ruling.

Something I always wondered about,
wouldn't there be like half the population there.
An entire new earth just for us to roam? Wow.
Matt 7:14.

This I post, not as a declaration of something that is known, but more as a meditation:

I spent a term in the military (Air Force, enlisted). In Basic Training, we are taught 1st to follow orders, and 2nd to work as a team. We were not told the why of anything. I entered with no guaranteed job (this is/was called open/general as opposed to enlisting for a specified specialty).

It is my belief that the nature of God is that He is active and not satisfied with just 'passively' receiving our worship. I believe He is building a body of those that will do His will and will be using us in a manner and to accomplish something we cannot know at this time.

I am not sure of anything practical about this in terms of how we live in this world, but I do want to build my faith and practice dependence upon Him.

One thing I am sure of: We will not be confined to this Earth, but the entire universe will be our playground.

How so. or what do u mean.

As the Kingdom of heaven will come down and God will be dwelling with us, the entire universe will be open for us all to explore and who knows what God's plans are after the known heart of God toward us, as revealed in His word, has been completed? Forever is a LONG time!

Here is an artist's rendering of the Kingdom of God as per the measurements given in Revelation 21. Our homes are there.

1 Cor 2:9 However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him-- :)

What are your thoughts on post 4.

I'm not sure what you are meaning about "half the population there". There will be billions of glorified believers inhabiting the New Earth.

It will be amazing!

How do you see that happening, through scripture. What scripture points to billions or a lot of believers?

Matthew 7:14 is in reference to those who walk the narrow way---to our life in the here and now---not the afterlife. The road we walk is rife with temptations and dangerous places that serve to bring people off the narrow path into ruination. The Lord is instructing us about how to live rightly before Him, avoiding pitfalls and detours in the road.

From the beginning of man until now, we can be assured that God will have a heaven teeming with the redeemed.

Revelation 7:9
Praise from the Great Crowd
9 After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands

I dunno about that. "Life" in Matt 7:14 I believe is referring to eternal life.

To enter through the narrow gate means to come to Jesus in *faith. Then we follow him. He said that he is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). There is no other way to *eternal life.

All of Matthew 7 is Jesus talking about how to remain in one's walk and to be successful in Him in our lives of faith, touching upon the themes of rightly judging, effective prayer, the "golden rule"--how to treat others, the narrow gate that leads to a rewarding life as opposed to lives filled with difficulty and trouble, about the imagery of the tree and its fruit and how our actions reveal what fruit we bring forth, about what makes a true disciple, and finishes up with how we can build our physical lives on a solid foundation in Him, the Rock.

If I may, I would like to hitchhike on Euphemia's post regarding life referring to the here and now...
(And Euphemia, I do not wish to "put words in your mouth", so feel free to disavow my thoughts).

Eternal life in His eternal kingdom is dependent on our Lord's sacrifice for us. The only thing required of us is to accept that free gift. Even for people that lived before Christ, the forgiveness of their sin is achieved through His sacrifice.

Even those that have come to a saving trust in His sacrifice, may not live day to day empowered by the Spirit. Living an abundant life now is the result of living empowered by the Spirit. This requires an obedient attitude and even saved Christians need to learn to listen to His voice, read His word, and follow His leading.
