The Reason the Church is Floundering....

I am in fact agreeing with you brother.

The fact is.....preaching against social sins and morality of society will not change society!!!!!

Only the changing of the heart of man can do that. Only a born again man can then change the direction of society.

What I am saying is that it just may be too late in the plan of God's time table for that to happen. There is a day set in time in which the Son of God in coming back and the Scriptures say that in that day.....it will be like the days of Noah and in Noahs day, man did what was evil continuelly in his eyes.

I am just saying that we may have passed the day of no return so that all we can do now id try and save as many of the lost as we can.
In the end times, seems to be 2 tracks going on, as the <Lord will be saving out His own as never before, but the world shall become darker and welcome AntiChrist!

True.

There will be a world wide revival to come to Christ by those who have never heard the gosple while at the same time the A/C will be trying to identify and kill those who do come to Christ.

To me the 2 main plans of God during great tribulation will be saving out to Himself his people from among those who never/hardly heard of Jesus, and to prepare israel to meet King Jesus!

Agreed. I believe the Bible teaches us that "everyone" will have an opportunity to hear and make a choice for Christ...hence the reason why those who have never heard the gospel will hear it and be saved.

And Yes......the reason Isreal was placed into the land on May 14, 1948 was so that they would be in position for what is about to take place.

This is all very timely. This coming week's message will be Matthew 24; however, last week did deal with the abomination of desolation just a bit.

I think we are doing fine, both as a church physical structure and as a church family. We just lifted mask wearing as a mandatory thing and we are back to filling every row instead of every other row. Out youth ministry rally last Friday was over 700 kids, with 70 or so being baptized. We ordained three new pastors and have added two additional weekend services in Spanish. And, next week will be our monthly "big serve Saturday" and that always sees a turnout well into the 100s.

the church the Body of CHRIST is alive the problem is so many have become complacent . as a pastor i know was talking he said there will always be a remnant. one of the Biggest "note one of " issues is division i read part of a article how the SBC was divided AS TO STAY INVOLVED in politics or focus more on evangelism. yes i reopened a church in sept it is a up hill battle to get folks to come. another church i know of needs a pastor going on close to 2 years. there obvious is a issue most likely some one not wanting to let go of the reins . let the spirit move freely . we cant even agree on denoms working together. we are the Church and if Judgment begins at the house of God. maybe WE should wake up . i do not see a great end time revival

That is really some very large church organization that you belong to.

I agree.

The facts is that the SBC IS a good old boys club. If you do as told, dont rock the boat then there will always be a job for you. I have been in the SBC now for 30 years. However......we as a church as not in it for political reasons or personal affiliations.

We actually believe that the SBC Cooperative Program is an excellent vehicle of supporting missionaries and distributing income to needed organizations such as pregnant homes for unwed mothers/orphanages etc.

You are exactly correct!

It is quite common to hear the following sentiments today from God’s people

“The glory of God has left my church.”

“Jesus is no longer at the center of our fellowship!”

“My church has aligned itself with the ways of man and the world.”

“My church functions more like a club, than an expression of the life of
Jesus Christ!”

By much spiritual evidence and observation, the ‘church on the corner’ is
either dying or already dead. This is obvious and apparent to any with eyes
to see, to those with true spiritual insight.

Something I have been trying to teach to my church over the last 2 years is this simple question
– “What if all we Christians had was God”????????

Not His things, nor blessings per say, but only Him. Not a hundred fired up preachers or
prophets telling us about Him, but only Him. Alone with Christ, and He
asking us “Do you love Me more than these?” as He did to Peter. “Am I enough
for you, or are there other things you desire?”

My friends, this is essentially what the wilderness is for us today as it was for Abraham, Moses and those who followed them–
to provide our Lord with the answer to this question.

Have you ever pondered the idea that the modern church – with all of its
structure and activity and paraphernalia and money – is endeavoring to answer
questions that God has probably never even asked???????????

Something to think about.

It is, but it doesn't really feel like it. There are those that come on Sunday (or Saturday) and there are those that attend (some where in the neighborhood of @10,000, and serve. Not sure of the actual number, but we (security) are the smallest group and we have close to 80.

In between Guest Services (the largest), CF Kids, the adoption & foster parent ministry, the prison ministry, Recovery Ministry, etc, there is probably close to 1,000.

I try not to. We have two churches. I focus on the part that focuses on God and his children. The other side, with an approved budget of over $12 million, is the business end and the part I have nothing to do with.

Our messages are sometimes what I call "bubble gum" preaching, but come "Baptism Sunday," I see the good works. Our stage and worship team make the place look (and sound) like a Christian concert hall, but when you see over 700 kids attend a rally that goes from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM, n a Friday night, it is inspiring.

I like going to see baptisms, I think that's one of the core things about church though many don't think it's important, but for a new believer, it's highly important.

As much as churches teach and preach, and all the other things that go on in churches, being immersed in Christ's love is something only someone who's taken that leap of faith can truly experience.

If someone goes to church and they can only dip their toe in, or come up rock bottom and don't go under the water, it's like...giving people a sponge bath instead of a real wash. I'm going to say don't be stingy with the water. Invite people in. Get saturated. A lot of people don't want to give their all, they are not willing to surrender their lives which is a real shame.

And then a lot of people have gifts that God gives them and when they bring them to church they get turned away! I don't understand that. Then they get told to do something else that God hasn't given them. That's so frustrating.

We have a small pool used for baptisms. It's at one end of the complex and people are invited to watch. I was baptized there and the water is really cold....

sbc has some good preachers in it..i pastored a southern baptist church had people wanting work and grow. then i mentioned foot washing. you would have thought i committed murder . there is so much politics in Churches today/ if were going to be a church. we have to learn to be the Church. people soon forget there is 1 Lord 1 Faith 1 Baptism . i would love to go back to the old days when we had real Church.

Jesus did say "Feed my sheep"; he didn't say "Smack the wolves".

What's wrong with foot washing???
The pedicure places are now doing it and charging money for it. huh.

When you come to my house, you take off your shoes, you wear slippers. I even wear slippers in the library. But I know some people are horrified and never take off their shoes for anybody. So they walk around with muddy shoes, dirty shoes, don't wipe their feet, or anything. Or worse, they wear those high heels that make really loud noises that ruin the floor AND cripple your feet.

We wear slippers in the house but when I drove trucks and worked freight, I left the slippers at home. lol

I remember the first time I went into someone's home and was asked to take off my shoes. I was SO confused and was not sure if this was a "religious" thing or not. It was the first time I had met these people, so I really thought it was odd. Turns out, it was to keep dirt off the floor (my shoes did not have dirt on them). Now, I can see if you were ankle deep in mud, but that seldom happens in a city where most of it is covered by sidewalks and driveways.

I'm funny about my feet (very unattractive), so I wear shoes all the time. Even when I was a kid and most of my friends went barefoot (it's a Miami Beach thing), I still wore shoes.

I do take off my shoes, when I am cutting the grass, as my wife gives me a funny look if I bring grass clippings into the house.

Rtm

many Sothern Baptist dont believe in foot washing. not many Churches do it any more. its not about washing a dirty foot but more of a servant heart/symbolically . another quirk much of the Church is hung up on.
