Well it is the old religious traditions passed down from generation to generation.
If we are poor then we are humble before God. Cant have any of that new stuff in the world because God said we cant have them and so forth. One of the bigest lies the church has bought.

I got news for any one who thinks like this. The new stuff was created for us and the devil stold it and christians except this. God said NOT to love the things of this world. Why Because God is love and we Love God and His word and His ways or the things of God. If you say I love my new car then you are bringing God down to the level of a car.

No friends we are to ENJOY THESE THINGS . God gives us ALL THINGS RICHLY TO ENJOY. Not love. When a person excepts poverty as Gods will or staying humble they are so wrong for it is just the devil trying to starve them of the things Gods wants us to have and enjoy.

I think some traditional churches told their adherants to take vows of poverty. But note, these ppl willingly became poor to give up love of worldly riches to focus on God. It doesnt mean...God wants everyone poor.

Loving God comes first. Loving money is the root of evil. Christians cannot serve mammon and The Lord at the same time. What we can do is make friends with those unrighteous mammon...(but not serve him) see the parable in Luke 16.
We are to be good stewards of what we do have.

God calls us to balance in life, not to make vows of poverty. His desire is for us to be free to do what he calls us to do, and that requires full health and physical means to fulfill His will...and extra to give and to share with others.

Christians who are free in these areas enjoy being His vessels and also enjoy His abundant blessing.

You know Jim, I've noticed this regarding prosperity. It's like a flower.
There are two bees circling that flower, one is named knowledge and the other understanding.

I have only checked limited verses due to time, but that was major good and in fact sufficient for me.

I am glad you posted this CCW. I agree 1000% with the underlined. Now just read it for what it is. It IS Jesus being extremely sarcastic. HELLO.....you are my child...OF COURSE I will do X, Y and Z. Ie X, Y and Z should take NO mustering up faith, positive confession, squinting eyes, repeating lines or holding God to promises.

Which means......If we are a child (tick) and X, Y and Z are not done, it is definitely His will and NOT a lack of faith. How do you all not get that? Pay attention to Jesus's sarcasm!! Then use lateral thought. We just have to ensure we are a child / in-Christ. Not apply concepts of faith.....:speechless:

Holding God to certain promises is how the unsaved and the Jews BC serve Him. All the prophets OT and definitely His children NT do not treat Him like this. God is not a vending machine. Would you like it if your husband said ''Euphemia I am holding you to your promise to clean the kitchen''!? The only promise a husband can hold his wife to is the promise that she will love him and be faithful til death. When you were the helper getting paid for X and Y, he could hold you to them.

We have moved on. We are not God's helpers. We are family.

Scripture and verse please. We have Matt 6:26, but that is not a promise we can hold God to. It is a case of once all is said and done we will understand God's reason for all and worship Him for being good. Just consider the Jews in the desert. Mana by night and shade by day. 100% taken care of, but no luxury transport or mansions to live in.

Again KJ I will say yoou simply donot understand for if you did you would grasp that Gods wants us in a place where He is obligated to His word. For when we are in this place it means we are operating as He has told us to according to His word. It is not a prideful thing but being confident in His written word. He wants us to be in such a place that HE CAN fulfill what he has promised us.

You are simply placing the just get by with the walking in obedience striving for excellence walk of faith. Of course He will keep you alive and give you just what you need to survive but that is living a very selfish and shallow life in Christ.

We are to enjoy the things of the world? Paul couldn't wait to leave this dump. Jesus couldn't give two hoots if He walked into down on a donkey, horse or pony. I think Jesus ensured it was a donkey though to send a message of humility. Just like the manger. The King of the universe is born in a manger :giggle:. I love God's humility and the way He makes a point :).

The only Christian that can accept poverty is the Christina that actually has faith in God. God does not put us through what we can't handle. This speaks volumes for those still faithful and in a terrible situation!!

I think we need to have a discussion on what a faithful Christian is!!!

Your scripture is a goodone KJ now if you read on you will Hear it said that SEEK GOD AND HIS KINGDOM FIRST. This simply means do what He has told us in His word and then ALL THESE OTHER THINGS will be added unto you.......
