Amen, forgiven;

anti-god in 1978 was Jim Jones' example. He was ordained under the Assembly of God and at first was very charismatic.

At that time I was 21 and didn't know the difference between Assembly of God, Presbyterian, Baptist, Pentecostal doctrines, etc...

Actually, when I didn't know the difference as a young man was better because all I knew then from my former pastor were the basics of the Bible - the Love Verse 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, The Great Command Matthew 22:37-40 and Exodus 20:12 which I struggled with.

Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. lol!

Bottom line, it was all Pro-God.

i pretty much know the difference in all each one has a breakoff of different teachings ..i really have a huge in difference on baptism making us a new creation in Christ. water baptism never saved anyone. some the other things i try not to sweat over. i am pretty open to listening to others. i probably dont agree.. but for a man to lead his members to suicide. that is the work of Satan in the person

the thing we must remember if their doctrine is not the same as ours . it does not make them a false teaching. when i was in carm discussing Calvinism.if i had dollar for every time i was told i was false teaching... i could rent you a car come on south past st louis
now j.w Mormons i have talked with both. j.w are trained well i listen to them and let them go on.. Mormons they asked come back, i said yes but leave your printed material behind. just bring your bible they was a no show . but pure cults they have some way in get into the mind .

I thought Jim Jones was under Church of Christ

But he quickly broke with them..apparently he'd go to every church in town on Sundays as there was nothing else to do for entertainment. Even back then, in the 50s and 60s church was more like entertainment than preaching and worship...

Thank you for the link,I got the whole book and am reading it on kindle.
It is certainly thought stirring about the facade of cults, the growth and what if anything God's true ppl are doing about it.

We are in the LAST of time, and it seems as if more ppl are seeking something or someone to worship and be the higher power! May we be the watchmen on the wall, sounding the alarm to repent of sin,for the Master surely cometh !

God help us to carry the standard as high as you've set it,never faltering. Help us with the study of your word,Spirit lead us into KNOWLEDGE,UNDERSTAND, AND THE WISDOM TO APPLY !
Amen.

Actually, Jones developed an affinity for Pentecostalism and he also wanted to be a preacher. He was ordained as a Christian minister in the Independent Assemblies of God and he attracted his first group of followers while he was participating in the Pentecostal Latter Rain movement and the Healing Revival during the 1950s.

JW and Mormons are indeeed a cult. Neither one accept the diety of Jesus Christ and they both deny the Holy Spirit.
Any doctrine that is not found in the Bible makes it a false heretical teaching.

In reading the kingdom of cults,it has raised some questions.
We all have probably had JWitnesses and LDS at our door.....( it's a shame on us that they continue this out- reach we used to do), what is a proper response, to them, I have not finished the book,it may be advised.

If this is against the rules please delete,no problem.
I understand that they want to be recognized as christians, a word I don't use bc Everybody's a Christian today.

Hi Lanolin;

The last church of Jim Jones' was called People's Temple in San Francisco.
He was ordained under the Disciples of Christ but renamed his own church congregation...a lot of preachers do that. Instead of just saying the church is in San Francisco they have to give it a name that makes it different from all the others - I'm supposing thats were denominations come from.

Some of them name their churches after themselves or a name thats unconnected to the area it's in.

Never allow them into your home. Open the door and go outside.

Their opening line is uselly that they want to talk with you about Jesus.

I always say...."Bless the Lord" and Immediately quote to them John 1:1-3. Then I inform them that they are lost, and need this same Jesus to save them from their sin. I then quote Romans 3:23 and then Romans 6:23 and ask them if they would like to receive Jesus as their Saviour and be saved right NOW!

Everyone that has come to my door always says something like.......
"We all have different ideas and we did not come here to talk about us ."

To that I tell them......
But the God of the Bible and the Creator, Jesus Christ wants you to be saved from the judgment because as you stand here in front of me, if you die now you will go to the place that you do not think exists. God wanted YOU to here how to escape the judgement. Will you right now say the sinners prayer and be saved?????

By this time they have turned and left because their "handler" has come to rescue them.

I agree. I also do not let them inside and have found the truth of the word sets them on the exit.

I asked bc we do have ppl that do not get involved with this site, they only read. New borns and toddlers in the Lord need us to guide them in the dangers that are in the world.

MY compassion is also directed at these deceived ppl. They want to worship and love but the enemy has ensnared and keeps them in captivity to false doctrine.

What you said also speaks to the what's written in God's word in Romans 1, about how ALL are aware of Him, can see His handiwork and even a part of Him in all of creation, and so they are all without excuse. That God-vacuum in us all before being saved and born again, that's in us all. Many block out from their seared consciences that need, others fill it in with other things of their own making.

The manifest sons of God and Latter day rasin heresies are still plaguing the church!

Agreed are major "biblical cults", as JW are modern day Arinian reborn, Jesus was Michael the arch angel, and Mormons worship 3 gods, not a Trinity!

When dealing with them, make sure to have terms defined, as they use our same terms but vest with totally different meanings!

I have used Isaiah with JW, as they accept him as inspired Prophet, and show to them that God knows of no other savior but Him, and show them Jesus called Savior also!
For mormons, have stuck to what the real Gosp[el is, as they are raised to have it being good works they do!

Some have said to not ever let them in since that would be inviting darkness into one's home. Others say that evangelism should be extended to even them.

Frankly, one should never try to deal with them unless one is prepared...equipped with a good knowledge of their deeper beliefs, and to challenge those beliefs beliefs biblically.

Therein is the problem. The NWT (New World Translation of the JW's, which is no translation at all, but rather a paraphrase) and the various works of the LDS, such as Pearl of Great Price, Doctrines and Covenants, BOM, etc., even their paraphrase bible, it all is infused with error that helps to keep them from ever believing modern translations derived from the majority texts and the Dead Sea Scrolls, they are utterly bankrupt in their writings given that they have nothing better to go on than the more modern authorities in their respective religions.

So, no. Unless you're prepared and equipped, it will not go anywhere with them. I was LDS for about 12 years, so I'm well acquainted with their deeper beliefs. I've also studied JW-ism and have become quite adept at dispatching their misinterpretations and outright false parallels.

We are also mindful that anyone, and it means ANYONE, who brings forth any other Gospel than that which the apostles gave to us, they are to be accursed. That is indeed true of those cultists who refuse to hear the sound Gospel we have through the majority texts in our translations. They are accursed until they have that change of mind and heart.

Think read somewhere that vast majority of JW converts came out from baptist churches, so those knew the bible and God talk well enough to allow the JW convince them of being right, but those who converted never trusted in Jesus!

And very important to make sure all parties know and define the terms being used, as both JW and Mormons use same terminology but give them totally different meanings!
