Do you think LOF is in the center of the earth ?
Before you answer think about this in Revelations it just talks about being thrown into........doesn't say where other than LOF.
We know that under the ground we call home is a molten FIREY mass of gases and what we call lava...volcanos & earthquakes have revealed this much.
We also know it was not created for any but the devil,who was cast down to the earth,and his angels who are reserved in darkness.
Also hell hath enlarged it's mouth to accompany those going there who reject God at judgment. I can not see it as part of heaven bc of the eternal torment of wailing,smoke and stench.

Sometimes I think its the Pacific Ocean because it actually does have a ring of fire (volcanoes) all around it. If the ocean dried up more and the volcanoes started erupting around the Pacific Rim it would be kind of like a huge lake.
At other times I think the Bible was referring to the Dead Sea.
Annihilation, where you're just taken out of existence, and poof, or lake of fire,where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth,forever conscious torment ?

Rev. 20:10 "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." (KJV)
Rev. 20:14: "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." (KJV)
Since death, hell, and the devil - who is a spiritual being - cannot be destroyed by physical means (as I understand it), the lake of fire will most likely be situated in the spiritual realm.

When one looks at that verse closely, it tells us very much about the environment around the Dead Sea as it existed in the time of Jude! There were then active fires and smoke in the area. Strabo, the 1st century geographer, described the neighborhood as “a land of fires.”
Some of the fires were fed by the seepage of naphtha (an old name for petroleum), bitumen, and other gaseous fumes.
Annilationism is a doctrine of the JW's and Univeralists and 7th Adventists. It is NOT Biblical.

The very fact that people will suffer varying degrees of punishment in hell shows that annihilation or
the extinction of consciousness is not taught in Matthew or anywhere else in Scripture. These are incompatible concepts.
We must then understand that torment cannot, by definition, be anything but conscious torment. One cannot torment a tree, a rock, or a house. By its very nature, being tormented requires consciousness.
I would have no problem with that at all.
I would only think that there will be a 2nd Resurrection and it is the for the wicked lost of all the ages.

I don't really care about peoples doctrinal beliefs myself. What people believe is according to their level of understanding.
If you believe in Jesus, that's enough - God will show you more when you are ready. The Lake of Fire can be both spiritual and metaphysical. Just like Jesus did come in the flesh and is also spiritual.
The Dead Sea and surrounding areas were apparently volcanic. It is actually the lowest point on earth. Often people refer to hell as below and heaven as above.
On earth there are hotspots, just like in the US round Yellowstone park. In NZ there are active volcanoes around the plateau, and boiling hot mudpools around Rotorua. They have to bury people above the ground there because everything below ground is boiling hot.
The parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man suggests that the Rich Man is outside of paradise in hell and is in a very hot place, but he cannot cross over, and he is looking UP to Lazarus, and there is fire.

I have another saying that I made up:
"There's no right answer to the wrong question."
Dr. John Barnett once said, when asked this question, that God did NOT create evil...at least, not in the sense of your question. The context of God (translated as) His having said that He created(s) evil must be understood and recognized. God, on this earth, does create situations hat some would say is evil, or mischief, or trouble for humanity, or individuals.
So, the difference must be observed between creating 'evil' in situations, and creating evil itself at its inception. Satan chose evil, thus allowing it to take root in his mind and spirit. God didn't put it there. Satan failed to go before the Lord and admit the beginnings of evil thoughts and desires within himself so that the Master Counselor could help him deal with it. Instead, he chose to allow it to manipulate his thoughts and desires to the point of lust and selfish action in rebellion, just as Adam chose to intentionally disobey God by eating that fruit he knew was forbidden.
Now, please allow me to inject this into this mix as well...
God took FULL responsibility for what He knew would happen. He made a way for mankind to be redeemed from what the Lord knew was going to happen, and yet allowed it regardless. Sending His only begotten Son to pay the price for sin for us was and is the ultimate acceptance of responsibility for His foreknowledge of the coming sin. Satan and his angels, of course, cannot partake of that redemption because they saw God in His full glory, stood before His Throne, and therefore saw and experienced what we have not. I'm reminded of what Jesus said when He spoke a blessing upon those who have not seen Him, and yet believe.
Oh, and please, nobody assume that I'm saying that God allowing the evil He knew was coming to this earth through Adam was unjust. No. Not at all. He had/has purpose in it all. That's what makes so sweet His having exercised total responsibility for allowing what He knew was coming. His offer for a way out from the penalty of sin is the most perfect representation of a Character that no man has ever come close to living out in this life among fallen humanity.
I could write an entire dissertation on this, but will leave it off at that...open to misinterpretations and such, and will answer questions that anyone may have about my statements.

Suppose we had no idea of creation,no Jewish history of God calling out of a nation,but only the gospels of Jesus. Could we still be accepting of salvation?
