The Reason the Church is Floundering....

Unfortunately that is true. The only way to fix that is to have one to one training classes with the deacons so that they understand what it is that they are to do.
yes sir i agree with you all the way. curious how do you see foot washing in the church service with communion ? trust me your belief will be respected. i encountered this at a church i was pastor at . in a meeting/meant to be lynching > me lol . a older man who thought he was the head dog wasn't even a deacon . asked where i got foot washing. so i read exactly what Jesus said . not so much the foot washing the showing of humbelence . symbolic

We had foot washings inside the church during Holy Week, at the men's retreat and at leader's men/women's retreat one year.

Our pastor read from John 13:3-4 and 14, for the men we experienced humbleness, humility to serving as Jesus did when He washed His disciples feet.

For the women, only one time did our pastor wash a female member's feet during Holy Week, and the rest were women who washed women's feet. Some wept as a sign of humility.

How do I see it????

It is a process rooted in humility. I have participated in it but We do not practice it today. In the past there was some problems with inappropriate touching and the practice opens the door to opportunity in these days that we live.

The "only" way for it to be done is men doing men and women doing women if you choose to do it. I actually do not know of any church's today that make foot washing a practice.

When I run for president in 2024, I am going to make it a plank that anyone with ugly feet can not wear open toed shoes!

I forgot to add that the foot washings that my wife and I experienced was back in the 90's.

But in our church today we are prayerfully planning a leaders retreat and will exercise foot washing before Resurrection Sunday, April 17, 2022.

There is a difference between "not believing in it" and simply choosing not to do it.

Again, because of the times we live in where sexual promiscuity and opportunity is everywhere......why give it the chance to happen when you do not have to.

True story.
About 30 years ago we began to notice that 10 or twelve of our teenage boys started to sit on the front row of the worship center for services.
I thought it was a wonderful thing untill I started to notice why.

We had a big choir.....about 40 and the front row was made up of women. When they stood and sat down and during the srvice they would cross their legs. The boys were sitting close so that they could get a good view of the ladies legs.

We had to install a 3 foot curtain in front of the choir and guess what happened to the boys......they moved to the back of the room.

Remove opportunity and remove a possible problem.

Ah, so that’s why those long ugly choir robes were invented.

I would respond that we grow and mature through proper teaching.
Mind you, I'm not arguing that we should have professors behind the Pulpit, but neither would I like to see a psychological babysitter filling the Pulpit as well.
I teach at my local church, but have a "real job" during the week, while being a pastor is the real job 24/7!

Everything we do should be done whole heartedly unto the Lord thus making it a 'real job', whether it is pastoring or dish washing.

Colossians 3:17 (KJV) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Agreed, but i am not the one answering phone calls to get to hospital in middle of the night!

Pastors are on call 24/7, as they are responsible for their flock, while those of us not serving as that are not on call!
Again, I'd say we are all on call 24/7. We can throw in Eph. 6:10-18 for good measure.

well i understand what your saying ..But i have never been in or known of a coed foot washing. where men wash woman feet and woman wash men feet. we always put the men in another room and the women in a different room. it has been many years but i have been in some spirit filled foot washing . i dont know every ordinance belief with the southern Baptist. only what i was told. if done in the right atmosphere ( under the anointing ) much like communion it can be a wonderful thing..

in something like this i agree all the way.i have seen ladies sing and have to tug at the skirt to keep it down. if ya have to do that it is to short . we forget modest apparel which does not mean skirts or dresses only . rabbit chase : i am not a shorts fan in church on adults

varicose veins?
(just joshin, don't take that one serious.)
its all good. but i did talk to man at the church i was in that had heart failure over the subject.. his wife told him she was not washing nasty feet . carnality kills a church every time i seen some older men feet that was rough lol
